Not only is this skewing SVG’s comments wildly, it’s also insanely disrespectful to him and the Supercars drivers. SVG earned that win and what he meant is that any of the top 10 supercars drivers could manage that in his position. If you’re offended by an outsider coming in and beating the series regulars, that’s a personal issue.
  • @dawnu132
SVG was playing himself down, not insulting the Nazcar drivers. In fact he was very complimentary to the other drivers.
  • There's nothing to be offended about. If you're a talented race car driver then you're a talented race car driver and SVG showed that. No one complained when AJ Foyt, Mario Andretti, Tony Stewart, Juan Pablo Montoya, Kyle Larson or anyone else who drove different styles of race cars win in them. Brett just needs to give SVG his props for whooping the Cup drivers asses and stop getting mad when things don't go like he thinks they should

I took it as just being "it could've been any one of us in this situation on this course. I just happened to be the one who got the chance to do it"
  • @GOWENYT
Brett Griffin taking offense from a comment. Ironic.

At the last V8 Supercars race the entire 26 car field was separated by 8 tenths of a second in qualifying, I think that shows how competitive, and close in talent the drivers are. So for SVG to say the top ten could do what he did is pretty accurate.
  • @ryanridley554
Shane was simply paying respect to his colleagues back here. Given the right opportunity and circumstance they would be competitive. Names like Cameron Waters and Brodie Kosteki, Will Brown and Chaz Mostert. Brodie has spent time over there in ARCA I believe so he's raced on ovals. And he is currently leading the series here and beating SVG on pace. Shane is simply one of the best drivers on the planet. Period. Just ask Max Verstappen. And if SVG says someone can drive id listen if I were you. Don't forget he is sitting on the opposite side of the car, and shifting with the other hand. Ridiculous talent. Try and find the Sandown race from a couple of years ago where he was buried in the pack and raced to the lead with a broken collarbone. I'm in the Ford camp here and it's hard seeing him so dominant but he's a generational talent which is due respect. He's also one of the most aggressive and intimidating drivers I've ever seen, whilst at the same time being respectfuland fair. If he does go there, I'm pretty you guys are gonna love his style
  • From an NZers point of view he was talking about how competitive the ozzie boys would be in the race. Definable not a diss
  • @ozgal6929
Well i would be backing SVG to win at Watkins Glen 🇦🇺
  • @spankyhunter
Remember he drove on the OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR, he was changing gear with the opposite hand. We run roght hand drive, nascar is left hand drive SVG said he was holding back because the car runs different. He also said on a oval he wouldn't be good cause he just doesnt have the experience. He's just one of those drivers that just gets it

I love that Garage 56 at Lemans humbled the indurance crowd and then a V8 supercar driver did the same to NASCAR for a new street course. It’s only better for the sport… and SVG just meant he’s nothing special, there’s many like him, but I think he’s just being humble.

When you come from a country where you race for 1000km around a track like Mt Panorama, Bathurst up to speeds near of 200mph in the dry/rain, it teaches you how to cope with a wide range of skill sets that make it possible for one to adapt quickly to new surroundings and stresses.
  • @cadco1996
No reason to think he was wrong about this. He was in a completely different league at the end of that race. This wouldn't have happened at Martinsville, but at this specific street race, there's no reason to think that the cup guys would beat the supercar guys.
  • @Tonzeff
What SVG was saying is there are 10 guys in Supercars that have the same skill set (and experience in Street Courses) that could have run a good race (not necessarily win) like he did. No disrespect to the great Nascar drivers intended, and by his own admission SVG did say he was a bit wary of oval racing as the dynamics, techniques and skill sets required to be a oval racer are a lot more different to what he's used to and would love the chance to get into it and learn as much as he can possibly after his final season with the V8 Supercars next year.
  • Dude, what he meant was any of the top 10 drivers could have done the same on that street race due to the fact that the NASCAR drivers hadn't raced a street race before and thats all they do in the V8 Supercars.
  • @johnbrown6901
People seem to forget NASCAR drivers are using "Daddies money" to race. Whereas V8 Super cars learn the hard way. AJ & Stewart both have stated today's NASCAR drivers are not the best in breed, just best in greed.
  • He was being humble with this comment and he was humble during the whole post race interview, something some nascar racers and fans should really take as a lesson!
  • @Boxscot49
Saying that Australian Supercar drivers couldn’t handle xfinity cars is a joke. And yeah no alot of these guys could come to the states and do well in these road course races cause they’ve literally been driving cars just like the cup cars around road courses their entire careers and you saw how SVG absolutely schooled Haley at the end. Nobody in the cup series would have even thought to make those moves.
  • @blumie006
Your just lucky the race ended at 75 or he would of most probably lapped the field
