Opioid deaths at Ontario shelters surged during pandemic: report

The study conducted by researchers from the Ontario Drug Policy Research Network and Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital and Public Heath Ontario found there were 210 accidental opioid deaths in shelters between January 2018 and May 2022.
There were 48 deaths before the pandemic took hold and 162 recorded after, the study found.
As Katherine Ward reports, researchers and advocates are calling for better supports to save more lives.

Come on, now are now beyond the sympathy stage. Play stupid games and win stupid prizes. Ten years into the toxic drug trade I could care less. We have laws against public consumption of alcohol, jay walking, keeping tigers and cobras at home or playing russian roulette in the streets. If people have not figured out the darwinian consequences of the illegal toxic drug consumption then they really have made their choices clear to society.
