The Nightcrawlers - Spacewalk (1985, Progressive Electronic)

Published 2024-07-06
The Nightcrawlers were an electronic music trio hailing from Philadelphia, consisting of Peter Gulch, Tom Gulch, and Dave Lunt. They formed in 1979 and released close to 40 albums, many of them improvisational synth works, before disbanding in 1991.

To say they're one of my favorite electronic acts of all time would be an understatement. Their music was really responsible for me taking an interest in this whole scene of music, and to top it off they have one of the most consistent discographies of any musical act out there. If you enjoyed this album, I would really recommend seeking out their other works, a lot of which can be found on this channel:    / @losament

Tracklist:
A1 - Digitalis 0:00
A2 - Ombra 6:42
A3 - A November Evening 18:10
B - Spacewalk 23:47

If anyone affiliated with this recording wishes for it to be taken down, please let me know. Thank you :]

The holy Algorithm strikes again. For a fan of all things electro from 1968-1998, YT has been a blessing.
  • This really is superb - thanks for posting this, definitely deserving of a re-release! Great find, Cheers

🐱The time of my childhood, when musical caballah began, the time🎶 when I had it for the first time, whistled in my ears.. The time of such bands as Space, Zodiac and Secret Service. Then science fiction and disco are fascinating, and euphoria reached the stars💎
  • What another crazy rarity...the Nightcrawlers are a legend for very Berlin School & Ambient fan...for good reasons! They were a fantastic duo doing magic with their analogue instruments. And for 1985 this is an extraordinary recording...its made in their home studio, think all of their cassettes & vinyls are really good, but some are more advanced in the sound quality. There you can hear how they start levitating all around them, ghosh! I like them since long. Just very hard to find these albums. They were as great like Klaus Schulze indeed! Or earlier Tangerine Dream. This here is one of their BEST! Its opening doors to another reality!😂❤️‍🔥🎉😊🤪

I like the one they did with crickets in the background because they recorded it in a garage, and the cricket's noises became part of the sound !

beautifully hypnotic. projects such as this really demonstrate how much emotion can be channeled through minimal composition. big fan of the space themes, as well. cheers.
  • I wish they would re-release all their works, all of their albums I heard so far is pure gold!✌️💚

Sometimes older synth has a way of being abrasive but this album has been consistently peaceful and inspirational. I genuinely admire their passion for sound.
