October marked my 40th year painting. I started at a Corvette restoration shop in St. Louis in 1983. I was 13. The owner started me out painting frames and suspension and engines, and I moved quickly to full paint. It was around the time Dupont ChromaBase and ChromaClear came out and many of the bases were modified lacquers. Dupont reps told us for certain colors lightly sanding with 1000 grit dry before clearing was recommended for good adhesion. Good times. I do mostly full restorations, but occasionally paint a car worth taking completely apart and pulling all the glass to prep for paint, like a Grand National. With as much painting as I've done, I enjoy playing videos like this in the shop throughout the day just for something to listen to in the background. It's encouraging to see someone explain some skill or discipline as well as this, knowing someone who may want to start has a solid base to use as a reference and will get off to a good start. There are PLENTY of paint hacks giving garbage advice. It's good to see someone give a relatively basic tutorial, yet advanced enough anyone watching will learn something regardless their experience level.

i am a hobby painter, but I learned so much from this video. This also shows why a good paint job cost so much.
  • That’s was awesome! I painted my 69 Chevy k20 last night metallic blue. Turned out pretty damn good thanks to your videos gave me the confidence and tips required! Thanks Brian!

Rhino lined engine bay and interior. Never seen an engine bay done before. Nice!

Thats an amazing paint job, you guys are so clever. I didn't realise how much skill, patience and talent was needed to do this.

I’d call this the definitive repaint video. It’s comprehensive but no less detailed than necessary to achieve a good result. Well done to all involved. I’ve owned my fair share of cars but 20 years on, it’s my black EG hatch I’d want back.
  • Mirror mirror on the wall, this mutha fuda knows it all! Love your channel homie
  • @edwinheredia4305

I don 't paint cars, I paint guitars - but this was a great video. I want to use this color and there was a lot of useful info here. Thanks for putting it out there.
  • I was literally going to asking when is this video coming…. Bingo Perfect timing!

You have really changed my entire perspective or painting. The stuff you have taught me is something I will pass on to others.
  • @stotts58
As good as you are you make people who never thought about painting want to paint because you a good teacher and just that good thanks I appreciate you very much.
  • @BodeVision
Awesome video man! I learn so much every time
  • Things have certainly changed a lot since the days when I sprayed so much Acrylic Enamel on cars and pickups. I have been watching your videos and preparing for an upcoming paint job on a full size Bronco restoration and color change paint. I will be using an inflatable paint booth outside. I appreciate all the videos you have showing the thorough process to get a good job. Thank you so much for these videos. My confidence level has risen and my wife's dream car (suv) will be looking very good.

I Do gotta say, thank you. I Only recently earned experience in the body collision and painting field, with a background in automotive mechanics and a spread of diversity in welding and fabrication across all techniques outside of the newer process of laser welding. Overall, ill say this video allows anyone with a sense of common understanding, the idea to expand beyond this, to seek more from their creativity rather than just spraying cause the boss told you, or the manufacturer gave you the steps. What you provide is a means for people to dive into more of what it means to be unique... Creativity. ThanK You.
