Saudi Arabia is well known across the world for its wealth, strict faith, and oppression, but while Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman has decreed that he wants to reform, the world is shocked by the murder of journalist Khashoggi and other human rights violations. We follow the developments from the inside, through the eyes of the inhabitants themselves. Are they just empty promises or is Saudi Arabia actually able to change?

My sister was a nurse in Riyadh for 7 years. She really enjoyed her time working and living in Saudi Arabia. She didn't want to leave but at the time foreign housing complexes were being targeted and bombed and it became to dangerous to live where she did. While in Saudi Arabia she developed double breast cancer and she said she received the best medical care and new treatment. Years after she moved back home though her cancer came back and she passed away in 2016. I have many items she sent back home to me from Saudi Arabia and I treasure them.

As a Iranian man I wish comes the day all women from Middle East to have equal rights as man.. it's 40 years women in Iran are fighting the government for freedom an equal right. I believe someday soon they will be free. Middle eastern culture need to be changed. Wish all women in Saudi Arabia and anywhere else best of luck 🤞 WOMEN .LIFE. FREEDOM.❤✌️✌️✌️✌️✌️
  • When you have to worry about the well-being of your female family members being out in public, it means there's something really wrong with society.

When I applied to teach in Saudi Arabia, it wasn't only the generous salary and benefits that attracted me, but also the opportunity to experience Saudi people and culture in real time - feet on the ground. I did not believe that all Saudis hated everyone whose religion and ways were different from their own. The warmth and generosity of the Saudi people touched my heart profoundly, and I will always cherish the time I spent there.

I visited the KSA last year alone as a woman. It was an amazing experience to meet people, talk to them and get a feeling from the ground. Bless us for Google Translate! I was treated to coffee and a snack by strangers who were just happy to see a foreigner (and believe me, I was on my own exploring). My friends (here) were sceptical and colleagues even warned that I should "be careful". It has been one of the safest experiences and there is so much more to explore. Things are changing - step by step, and my journey gave me hope that humans one day really come together in Peace and dialogue. I cannot believe how far we have come already. I made friends and hope to return this year. The KSA has a lot to offer. Of course, there is still room to improve but which country doesn't? Love to the KSA from Europe 🥰

At 25:59 he didn't say : the faith says to women: Stay within your home. They added that. That shows the intentions of the documentary producers.

Women being treated like adult females and human beings? How is this threatening?

I'm American but my grandma's father was southern Baptist and she didn't have the freedom of a male. My grandma wasn't allowed to go swimming like her Brothers and if she went to the movies she had to be accompanied by both her brothers.

Amazing journalism and a great documentary. It may be one of the best documentaries I have seen. Very valuable source in terms of showing what life looks like in Saudi Arabia. I will be following the other works of Sinan Can for sure. Thank you for creating such a good work.
