CDS General Bipin Rawat Chopper Crash: A witness at the site of the crash in Tamil Nadu that killed General Bipin Rawat and 12 others on Wednesday claims he saw the General alive moments after the wreckage was found in the hills. Shiv Kumar, a contractor, was visiting his brother - he works in a tea estate -- when the helicopter crashed yesterday afternoon near Coonoor in the Nilgiris. Shiv Kumar claims he saw the Air Force chopper bursting into flames and falling. He and others rushed to the site. "We saw three bodies fall...one man was alive. He asked for water. We pulled him out in a bedsheet and he was taken away by rescuers," Shiv Kumar told NDTV.

Translation from Tamil to English - He says he was about to visit his relatives and on the way nearby some people saw the chopper crashed into a tree and it was on fire.. then when they reached near the spot due to immense fire and heat waves and gas stuff present at near the helicopter location of crash he wasn't able to reach to the depth of the chopper.. then he asked others if they saw anybody jumping out from the plane they said yes three people jumped off from it so then he and his friend started to locate those three.. since there was only space available for one person to walk through that area he went inside and saw one person and then he informed his friends then he decided to inform the local town inspector police.. Out of the three survivors one was alive struggling in deep pain and was asking "water please" to him ... Since the area was too deep it was hard for this guy to take water from the top area to the place where bibin rawat was alive and requesting water ... So the inspector brought some blankets and wrapped it around the only Survivor and brought them up... after that local army officer arrives and shows him the photo of chief commander and says he is the second person you saved and after hearing that he feels very much in respect and starts to feel sad and bad that the person who is in highest civilian position and who protects our country as a dignitary army head is asking me for water and i wasn't able to save him and is still aching my heart and when i heard he died i wasn't able to sleep properly 😞 One more thing .. I reside closer to sulur I saw this chopper going back and forth three times around early afternoon above my house ... and it flew like really closer to the buildings so all residents came outside to see it .. It's really unfortunate that this happened i dunno if it's accidental or some conspiracy 😢😔 but to see all the all the travelled people in the same crash same day is very heart breaking and tragic.. it's a big huge loss for the entire nation ...

Salute to the locals who are no less than soldiers who did thier best.God bless them 🙏
  • Since many comments on the translation, here's wat he said, to an extent I heard and remembered. "He was there to visit his brother in law (macha) , when he reached the place his brother in law had informed him that there is a chopper that's crashed nearby. When they rushed to see the spot, they found the chopper burning to abt 20 feet high. And they couldn't go near the place as it was too hot n risky to reach close by because of the fuel n gas in it. So they tried searching if they could find anyone who has jumped out and found 3 ppl outside. Of which one person was alive. And they approached him and asked him not to worry and that they will rescue him. He requested them for some water. Since he had fallen in a place that was steep down hill they couldn't come back n fetch water. Since the police arrived by then. He informed them that he was asking for water. And they immediately wrapped him with a blanket and brought him up. Initially he wasn't aware of the person who they rescued, but after a few hrs someone from the army had visited him and showed him the photo of the chief and informed that the person he helped was the CDS of India, after which he felt very bad that he couldn't give some water to a person who saves the country. And when they informed that he is no more he felt even depressed and wasn't able to sleep all night."

Going near to a crash site of any kind of flights is extremely dangerous and these bravehearts dared to do their best. Kudos to them.

That's heart-wrenching ... He couldn't even drink a sip of water at that time ... Fraction of seconds .. everything changed for all those onboard ...

Cameraman speaks Tamil but he does not speak Hindi. What the person said is that "He asked for water. But we could not find any way to bring water to such a deep place. I feel bad that I could not provide him with water and could not sleep last night because of that"
  • @Account-user
Man this is even sadder... Such a great soul, yet he couldn't quench his last thirst😢... Why does the world works in such cruel ways? 😞
  • I went to my brother in law house suddenly my brother in law came saying some helicopter has fallen there i ran there, it was huge fire and heat i assume there could be more fuel or gas which may blast again and there was huge heat hence I didn't went near, later I saw a person came out asking for water.... local police and local people brought blankets to quenching the fire I couldn't able to give water..... After some time a military officer came there he told us he is CDS... Later in evening there was tragic news that CDS is No More I felt in guilt thinking that I couldn't able to help such a big officer who saves our life.... In that guilt I couldn't able to sleep last night.....

  • @abby-kamakoti
Translation is not accurate..... That man gave so many informations ...but the reporter didn't say those things in hindi.
  • Also the person mentioned that he extremely regrets for not being able to offer water to Gen Rawat sir and lost his sleep the last night and felt miserable to hear that sir passed away. But the translation by the cameraman was that he felt very moved to have rescued Gen Rawat sir. My goodness.

His name is shiva kumar works at construction field, came to visit his (BIL)brother in law. On his way to the BIL's house, he heard from his BIL that there is a heli crash nearby. Since Shiva was near to that crash site, he went there along with his group who accompanied him to meet the brother in law (who was already present I assume). Fire was 20 feet high and nobody could go near it, and took precaution not to go near the fire since the heli may be explode due to fuel/ gas cylinder and due to the danger it present nobody went near. Next they checked if anybody jumped before the heli crashed and his bro in law said 3 people jumped. Then they started to search for them. The first one they found was fighting for his life and (he says that he is the one of the three they identified to the police). Due to the steep of the hills and due to restricted access only he went to find the other 2 people below the hill and they were critical too. He told his friends that 3 are alive and when the Town Inspector came they shared the info to him. Lastly some other guy ask him who was the person who asked water to you ? Shiva said that the person looked in so much pain so, Shiva told him to be relaxed n calm and that they will rescue him. The person then turned toward Shiva and asked for some water. Due to the steep of the hills and poor accesibilty they couldnt provide him water immediately. Then the police came with scissor and sheet to carry the injured. After 3 hours when they were doing field work, an army officer came and tapped his should and displayed a picture and told that the second person you rescued was the Chief Commander and hearing this Shiva felt bad that he couldnt provide water to a person who spearheads the Country's military and felt remorseful about the new of his death later and he couldnt sleep
