Fort Myers Beach Mooring Field and Doc Fords Visit

Published 2023-10-27
Taking our 341 Meridian from Cape Coral Florida to Fort Myers Beach Mooring field at Matanzas pass bay. We also try to visit Doc Fords restaurant, get caught in a storm that has us change plans, watch a coast guard boat boarding a speed boat and even catch the Key West Express on its way to paradise. Oh, and we can’t forget the Pirate Ship!

I truly wish I'd lived my life differently so I could do what you're doing. Safe boating and thank you.

Another great video Bridge and Tom. have watched many of your videos helping out a cold Michigander surviving the dull winter. hard to believe you only use your cellphone for these great videos thank so much alk in Michigan
  • Just. An fyi ALWAYS ALWAYS USE TWO LINES THROUGH THE SHACKLE ON THE BALL. Each line back to each cleat Redundancy. Great work🤙🤙

Another great video Tommy.. whenever I watch your videos I feel like I’m right there on the boat with you. Some people try to showcase their boat but you devote your time to the area that you’re exploring for the day. Even though I’m down here in Florida with you, this is exactly the type of channel I would watch if I was stuck in an office in the winter up north, wishing I was down in Florida! I have never used a mooring ball before. I’ll have to try that one night. Last time we just anchored out near the railroad trestle in Boca Grande and we had no issue, but I was up all night long thinking we were going to be drifting.
  • Thank you for showing our neighborhood out by Bowditch..yes we love Free 😂😜

A nice weekend getaway. When it rains in FL and the south in general, it rains hard. We seldom get rain that hard in WA. FL certainly has lots of great restaurants on the waterfront. Good food and nice views.

Good to see you visit FMB! Our home away from home for 32 years! Try docking at Moss Marina and stroll downtown, shops, maybe a dozen eateries within walking distance opened up.

Nice boat. Hope this helps, but I found with the morning balls sometimes it’s easier to catch it off the swim platform and walk the line up to the bow to tie off. They look light but are way too heavy to be picking out of the water.

We also prefer the hook but with all the wind this summer around Block Island Sound we grabbed a ball a few nights. Gotta say I get a really good nights sleep on a mooring.😂

I envy you! I had our boat pulled up for the winter last week. 😪
  • @lutacrew
Nice update. I shared you YouTube on Matazas Pass YouTube channel.
  • I figured you would be at the Ft. Lauderdale boat show buying a bigger boat.
  • @havanashamrock
I never got a good nights sleep on the hook, a little better on a mooring ball. Quick note gulf star is a fully automated marina kinda like a soda machine that’s how they move the boats in/out pretty cool thanks for the video
  • The real reason for Mooring Balls is to protect sea grass, which is endangered in this area. Boat anchors and length of chain spin constantly with the current and it damages sea grass and sea life it touches Mooring systems only make contact with the sea floor in ONE solitary location which is smaller than a water bottle.
