Quick tip to save the engines: WRX engines don't have baffles in the oil pan, while STI engines do. When tracking a subaru, the oil shoots towards the outside of the turn (towards the head, because of the horizontal layout of the boxer engine), starving the oil pump leading to premature rod bearing failures. It's a quick and easy upgrade to swap out the oil pan for one that has baffles, and it solves the issue (aftermarket, or STI pan). (It's not an issue with city driving, but the long high-speed turns at the track make this mod a requirement to be somewhat reliable)

Hey Donut media! Subaru specialty shop here. Definitely need to do a proper break in procedure, and oil changes on a fresh engine. But I noticed you're running an ACL oil pump. Some of them have very sloppy tolerances and tend to build low oil pressure, and take a long time to build any oil pressure on start up! Just a quick pro tip for your next engine 😉

I love how tired Jeremy looks when dissasembling the motor. It makes you know that he's not just "a host" on the show or something while someone else is doing the hard work, HE'S doing the hard work, with obvious help of a team. But I really like that genuine touch on this videos. Also I love the little camera doing a close-up at 7:55 while Jeremiah's showcasing the sparkplugs lets you remember that there's people behind the show too. Donut Media is by far one of my favourite channels because of the ammount of work people put into this videos, not just the guys that actually show on camera but the people who roll this things and edit them too. Thanks again for everything.

I'm not really a car guy, but the way you put together your videos and how well they're made. I find watching for 14 minutes why a car I've never seen before in my life failed.

Absolutely love these kinds of videos, their not just entertaining, but honest to god educational for car enthusiasts. While most of us aren't ever going to completely disassemble an engine for diagnostics, this still teaches you a process and mind set that's useful in less extreme scenarios.

Thoroughly enjoyed this video, it's a great example to show that you guys aren't just goofing around all the time, and you actually have knowledgeable people doing the real work on these cars. All too often you get front men who are there just for the camera and an army of actual skilled people in the background. Nice to see Jeremiah (in this video) knows his shit. 👍👍

Another recommended thing to add is that Subaru recommends you use a higher viscosity oil such as 5W-40 for spirited driving.
