This is a tool-assisted speedrun. For more information, see tasvideos.org/2820M.html

Super Mario 74 is a Super Mario 64 ROM hack made by Lugmillord in 2011. It introduces new harder levels, custom music and a greater amount of Stars to collect.

The hack often pokes fun at both the player and the original game. Most of the dialogue is silly or sarcastic and some star names are deliberately unclear to give the player no help in finding them.

First-time TASer homerfunky uses the game's various glitches to blast through the hack, finishing with all 151 stars in less than two hours.

My comments: This is a 100% run. It isn't the most optimized, but enjoy regardless! A very good "first edition" TAS for this hack! It took 1 year for him to make.

4:55 "You are really slow, do you know that?" No sir, I didn't know 5 minutes was slow. Nope, not at all.

Edit: If anyone's wondering what I'm currently up to, I'm working on a new game called DISOBEY ME! Great stuff! I love the Overheating Oasis entrance and how you cancelled the red coin star animation :) Ah, and even some bunny glitching, neat. Bowser 1 with 1 throw is also new to me. (I'll just write the comment while watching I guess) 25:10 haha, nice! And the whole red star was reaaally cool. 26:10 WOAH! Man, this video makes me smile ;) 30:55 I love these BLJ jumps. :D All the 2nd overworld stars were amazing! 34:30 and that one made me laugh. 36:52 another nice find. this shows all the errors in my hack, haha. But they make this that much more interesting. I should change the first star name to "Exploit the factory".^^ 50:43 that looked weird. I wonder how you find such jumps. 53:10 so many things I thought were impossible... well, until TAS spoke the last word you can never be sure. Also: nice ascend of the icecrystal tower. 1:12:42 Those dive jumps... really didn't expect them to get across these distances. 1:14:57 WOW! That star is my favorite moment so far. Loving the craziness :3 And you really didn't want to do the coin star in Sunny Beach it seems xD And even in a TAS the blue coins are close to vanishing. I really should have put the third one closer to the switch. But your bully transportation technique is pretty cool. 1:22:37 What the...wow.... And Course 13 was awesome as a whole. I love that super fast flying, especially when Mario's belly is touching the lava xD 1:33:49 I'll never understand how these glitchy wallkicks work. The spheres flew by as if they were nothi...WHAT THE HECK, you got flight for sight without the cap. xD The Crystal Palace was also an amazing watch. And that BLJ to the castle grounds warp pipe came out of nowhere, that was suprising. Although it's not really that hard to guess, hmm. It looked cool anyways. Homerfunky, great job, I enjoyed it all the way through :) I always like TASes of my hacks and this is as cool as it gets^^ And thanks to sonicpacker for uploading.

  • @PotatoToon
Felicitation! You have much courage and patience! I enjoyed the TAS and can't wait to see an improvement or a EE TAS! Keep up the good work!
  • 0:10 this song is actually nostalgic for me. i once played the game with this song (Super Paper Mario) and it crashed just before i got 100%. i hated my life at that moment.
  • @Theokat
Clean TAS :D Bien joué homerfunky !
  • @mdudegamer
This was really neat! Some of the tricks took a minute to figure out why you were using them, but once I realized why they were all very clever time saves.
