I cannot stress how much I wanted to react to this song ever since it was brought to my attention by my daughter, and dozens of you in the comments section practically begging me to listen to this on camera. Was it worth the wait? Was the hype deserved? Watch the video to find out!

I super appreciate your attention to detail and also nerding out on the modulations, borrowed chords, etc. It makes all the work that went into it worth it all over again when I get to witness reactions like these. THANKS! 🤘

The reason the song from 12:45 and out feels so raw compared to the rest of the song is because when writing this song, they told Casey the song only had to be about 7 minutes or so (I don't remember exactly what they said specifically, all I remember was that he was allowed to end the song at that point), but because he assumed this would be his last time making music for DMC, he decided to go all out for the ending, adding an extra 2 or so minutes of pure, raw emotion as a love letter to the DMC franchise
  • No amount of demonic energy could prepare me for that fire violin solo.
  • Fun fact, Casey Edwards was told he couldn't use guitars at all, only for the chorus toward the end. So he had to improvise and use synthesizers to make the heavy parts and everything before. Another fun fact too, Casey Edwards studied under Mick Gordon, the composer of the DOOM Soundtrack for the modern games. Which is why it has a similar feel. Oh and Bury the Light shares chord progression with Devil Trigger which is top notch.

18:35 bro, dont tease us like that, we NEED to hear you do a violin cover of this amazing song XD
  • Casey didn't have to go this hard, he was only required to make a song for Vergil a couple of minutes and fairly basic. Casey was all like: "Hold my beer."
  • @WhyRunning
I've never played DMC, but I heard this song in a meme and fell in love with it from the first seconds. It's a rare masterpiece. Even without knowing the character, you feel his personality through the music. This is art.
  • I was listening to this in the background and didn't think twice when I heard the violin. I assumed it was part of the original track. 🤯 I hope some composers see these reactions and get the idea to invite you to add to their productions!

Ah, Vergil. The final boss that when playable doesn't become some weaker character. I have never seen anyone talk more about the singer of the song or the song's composer. They're both respected very equally and I love that. Victor Borba and Casey Edwards are absolute kings in the videogame music community.

The wild thing is that up to 12:45, it's all synth. The Devs told the music writers not to have guitars. That's why the last part is so raw, he added electric guitar as a personal omage. Vergil is one of his favourite characters ever and you can feel it. The passion slaps so god damn hard.

God, the violin 18:33 onwards was incredible! Great playing, as always. I’ve seen a few comments suggesting the Metal Gear: Rising OST, and i couldn’t agree more, it’s filled with intense bangers. “A Stanger I Remain”, “Stains Of Time”, “Red Sun”, “The Only Thing I Know For Real”, “Collective Consciousness”, “It Has To Be This Way” and “The Hot Wind Blowing” are my for sure top picks.
  • Okay, that was one of the the best Bury The Light reactions I've ever seen. I recommend you to listen other Devil May Cry music like "Devils Never Cry","Taste The Blood", "Shall Never Surrender" and other.
  • @Nulcifier
This song is so good bro. especially at the part where the singer says "BURY THE LIGHT DEEP WITHIN" Ohh baby! that's gonna make me go to heaven
  • Fun fact: the BURY THE LIGHT DEEP WITHIN SEGMENT is reminisant of the chorus of Devil Trigger to refrence the fact Vergil is Nero's father. Not sure if you noticed

The drummer for this song is Anup Sastry, who is an insanely talented dude. He's got such a deep pocket, but is also very tasteful with his fills. One thing to also mention is that this was mixed by Adam "Nolly" Getgood, who is one of the greatest rock and metal sound engineers of our time. He's incredibly smart and meticulous with his craft. He's done a bunch of other work, but most notably is one of the minds behind Periphery's sound, as well as they're former bass player. There was a lot of talent that went onto this track, including Victor and Casey. Overall this is one of the greatest video game compositions of all time.

That introduction was INSANE! I was very impressed by the sudden switches from grungy and crunchy to sweet and gentle without sounding out of place. The first big vocal entrance made my jaw freaking DROP! As someone who loves melodies, I appreciate a simple percussion that can drive the rhythm/enhance the music without sounding boring. The meter changes, jumps, and key changes are all EPIC and really make this song so unique! Okay 12:44 absolutely blew my mind!! I hadn't thought of how space in a melody can make it more musical. Then again, music tells a story and who makes stories? Humans. And what do humans do? Breathe. So it checks out! This is definitely the type of music I LOVE to listen to when I need high energy that's also "focused".

As someone who knows nothing technical about music its so great to hear someone who is knowledgeable about those things explain exactly why we intuitively know this song is such a masterpiece
