I think a more realistic comparison would be Honkai Impact 3rd, since this game is a completely different genre than Genshin. Also the monetization might be the same but you get a LOT more free currency than Genshin.

The gacha part left out important information. You can farm for constellations after you get your first character, and it only takes 2 weapons to reach max refinement. This is much better than genshin.

I am part of the small and dedicated fanbase! You can see for sure that this is a smaller team and effort. If you're into cyberpunk storylines and quick shooter gameplay Snowbreak is really fun. Oddly, the storyline progression has been one of the key contributors for me sticking around.

Another thing is that I don't think Snowbreak is trying to compete, or even follow Genshin's footsteps. It's more like they are following Honkai Impact's footsteps since in that game, it isn't open world, and the story are told through still models, but are voiced, which is something I hope Snowbreak can improve. Besides, there are other bigger titles already in the works to compete with Genshin like Wuthering Waves, Mugen, and the latest one known, Azur Promilia. Though Snowbreak did have an open world game mode in the Summer Event, but it is small and nothing compare to Genshin. And again, Honkai Impact also have that as well. And in some strange way, I think I am glad that the game stays within the niche but have a dedicated player base. After all, you don't see a lot of Chinese gacha games focusing more on the fan service. This is from China after all.

About the logistic, they have just added a features to buy event logistic in the game. Also, more fan services are coming because they changed the rating of Snowbreak to 18+.

Imagine if Nikke 2 becomes like this 😩
  • @albedo8231
Meanwhile the only endgame in genshin is spiral abyss for 3 years straight

You didnt go into how much "primogems" you can get and how frequent. The frequency, reliabilty, and amount gain is what makes Snowbreak have the better Genshin gacha system. In Genshin, once you get all the chests in the overworld and complete achievements, you will need to depend on events and dailies for anymore rotating primogems. You could walk around the map and get less than 100 primos after 5 hours of treasure hunting. But for Snowbreak you can do weeklies, dailies, and events quickly and they give way more pulls overall in a shorter amount of time.
  • In its current version right now, u can farm for old event weapons and logistics. Elite logistics has its own separate area in the shop
  • So one thing that is very important to note for the future reviews of these gacha games, yes genshin has become the new standard when it comes to the new era of gacha games since they showed the world that 3D massive open world gacha games can work (I mean in just 2024 and 2025 there will be a shift in market since genshin won't be the only one in this genre any more) a lot of the current popular gacha games stil follow the "Old" formula that being instance based levels, with menus for grinding, visual novel story telling and characters being more about the static image rather than the 3D model itself. Nikke is a perfect example of the old formula being modernized and updated where normally gatcha games would turn that beautiful png image of the character you pulled for into some chibi or not on par 3D model. Just wanted to throw that out there in case you play something like Azur Lane where there is no open world levels at all, and is primarly sustained by its fanservice and super friendly gacha rates there are others that are bit more modern but still follow the old formula like Arknights, Aether Gazer, PGR, Blue Archive, Reverse 1999, Snowbreak, etc before genshin all they were doing to one up each other was some new form of gameplay or better looking characters. While it's fine taking genshin as the new standard I would argue very few "New gen" gacha games have survived ever since genshin came out, Nikke is the only one that comes to mind and HSR which to no one's surprise is from Hoyoverse, so it would of naturally integrated itself into the genre.
  • @BanMEOW
Thanks You Psychie Always a greatest job !
  • @Zack-0906
Idk, I don't really like how you try to compare Snowbreak with Genshin every minute, they are not even the same genre, the only thing they have in common is that both are Chinese gachas
  • @hashimina_
Ah yes, i'm waiting for your atrocious review for PGR
  • Didn’t know you existed until today, but I’m glad you do lol. Thank you for all the hard work.
  • @iamcool544
Me who has never played Genshin listening to him compare everything to Genshin "I still dont understand"
  • @Spyduck
Having played Snowbreak since launch, here's what I can leave you all with as a full F2P player. The gacha may or may not please you, but you don't need to spend nor overindulge in each banner. The game has made it such that the default versions of Lyfe (SMG - all rounder), Fenny (Shotgun - armor breaking), Yao (Sniper - life support) are really all you need to clear every playable mode of this game except modes that need multi-functional teams. Because I put my faith in the game's design and built up these 3, I never felt the need to pull unless I wanted a new advantage. And I can proudly say I only have 3 Orange-tier Operatives, with one item for a free Orange, and a combined stock for 120, 10x rolls. The game is that generous when played diligently, and we're 10 months in. Resources were rough at first, but once they started putting up the event activities in each patch, resources suddenly became plenty with surplus. And since you aren't trying to build a full harem, you WILL be able to easily and immediately maximise the loadout to a new Operative except for the gated Manifestation rank (gacha, or time investment). The recent shift to fanservice? By all means just ignore it if you don't want it. As long as the skivvy aesthetics aren't being intrusive (and they aren't), the game's playability remains the same. You have to purposefully make the skivvy stuff shown instead. Finally, there's an important point to be made - gacha games need time investment and focus, and Snowbreak is no exception. Don't try to upgrade everything all at once - make it so that you have a solid team that can carry you up to par with the game's content difficulty, then slowly diversify out so that other members can catch up and fill the teams adequately. Because of the rough start, I'm sure some of us took at least 2-3 months to have a solidly armed team. I don't mean to detract the video itself, but would you simply accept a video essay on the game, or the many others here who have actual near-1-year experience with the game?
  • @AlexWoss
wow, I just started to play yesterday and here we have a video from Pseychie, awesome!
  • Logistics come back in the unlimited tab of the event shop when the characters gains a rerrun banner. You will be able to farm katya's BIS squad when she rerrun god knows when. (Not that long actually, characters rerrun pretty often in this game)
  • @sgtimid2471
I'm stuck in Snowbreak being a pretty much noob, blindly playing with no research until now. This video was very informative and much appreciated. Thank you! Taught me more in 30 minutes then i have learned from game in 3 months.
