Project Lasso made a big difference for me. Removed all stutters.

Great overview Prickly...To the point, concise and comprehensive. HIP Games with A.C, Spud and yourself cover every cm of DCS but shockingly none is redundant or simply talking points manipulated to fit your style....I sincerely find the information to be value added, different perspectives adjunctive and always professional. Well Done sir.

IMO this is what ED should start really focusing on. I think it should be core game features and optimization. Let the well known 3rd party developers work on (and take the financial risk) on modules.
  • @dadnar7615
They should work on a cohesive theater and plane set that makes sense rather than the random mix match we have now.

Process Lasso has been an absolute game changer for me in VR using the free version. Worth trying out however you want to follow directions not not go exploring on your own unless you know what you’re doing.

Great DCS news channel. Thanks for making this.

I use an AMD Radeon RX 6900 XT with the Oculus Quest 2 and I saw a pretty decent performance increase. Lost all of my VRAM related “spinning hourglass” issues. I’ve been very happy with ED’s efforts in improving performance. We told them they needed to work on the game itself as a background and not just new modules; seems like they listened. Not just with all of the VR improvements (and MT) but things like AI BVR and ACM behavior. But I want my damn F-4! I’m bored flying what I have and want something new but I’ve been holding out for the Phantom

They definitely need to work on optimisation in VR you could look in one direction and get solid 90fps look at another direction and it drops to 60fps
  • This is wonderful news if it ports to VR. Yet they still have planes that have poor optimisation compared to others

I hope that Vulcan and other improvement will boost the fps without using the bad implemented dlss (Gen1 ?). I dont want to upgrade my 3090 it should be enough to run dcs on a G2 headset on medium settings with smooth framerate.

Just to help you clarify. Meta released a new software update V63 for the Quest 3 which breaks OpenXR. It's a known issue and ED already has a fix but we will have to wait until the next patch. There is a work around which is to use the standard Meta/Steam for now or don't allow your headset to update.
  • @SuperYooper11
As a point of correction, it is the Quest 2/3 users not HTC users that have been negatively affected by the update. I have been one of the people that has been affected by the Oculus 3 update. I cannot launch the game at all in VR - it will try to load and crash to the Steam home screen for the game. I can load it in 2D but it takes like 6 steps to do it but it looks kinda "off". I hope that E D will fix it soon.

I noticed some glittches and twitches in the helmet in your mirrors in the video.

Nice vid Where do you get the radio calls from please?
  • @somerando8615
Spudnocker put out a few optimization tutorials. They're pretty good if you are comfortable with fiddling with your computer.

Processlasso is fantastic as a broader system resource manager/config tool. Be careful, but rollback is easy enough. Small changes at a time and create separate profiles for each game.

I'm just a 1440p enjoyer non VR, track IR user, DCS performance is decent IMO, on average hardware R5 5600x and ancient 5700XT my fps is 60 on ground and can be 80+ in air but I lock it to 60, this is with max settings except low ground textures, I don't think 8GB cards can run it Maxxed out 1440p, with everything maxxed and low ground textures my card is using its 8GB Vram so no more room for high ground textures, DCS also loves 32GB ram I have seen my ram usage at 30GB when in a multiplayer server with lots people.
