I agree, anything on open shelves means more to keep clean. I love the idea of just drawers in a kitchen and the dining area so it's out of sight, easier to access, stays clean in the long run.
  • @brownskngrl
I’ve gotten comments like that do you ever cook so I did a blog showing me cooking. I absolutely dislike a messy kitchen or dishes in the sink I will not go in there until it’s cleaned. The kitchen looks very minimal and clean.
  • @denisemdb60
I totally get the no clutter in the kitchen. ❤ If there is a mess, I have to clean before I start! I'm a closed cupboard girl! 😂

Valentina, I love a lot of things about you and this community and the one thing I love the most is the recogniton that we are all sharing our opinions... Opinions not set in stone facts. While our opinions may differ, we can enjoy those differences and the level of respect for other people is beauiful. Thannk you!

Totally agree on hiding the trash can & recycling bin! Game changer! I Wish I had more drawer space, limited on that, so I do have the stoneware crock out with wooden utensils! My pantry is a life saver for storing countertop appliances! I only bring them out when I am using them, they immediately go back in the pantry after use. Great tips Valentina!❤

We redid our kitchen 12 years ago. Open concept to rest of living space. We intentionally used closed storage, but installed a larger window to not feel closed in with upper cabinets. In-cabinet garbage. Small appliance garage for coffee pot, toaster, juicer. Special slots in drawers for knives. I have plants and salt and pepper shakers on cabinets. AND (not in your ideas) one very special decorative plate from Blackberry Farm that we obtained from our 25th anniversary. It is our artwork in the room. Also, the baskets and bins are wonderful in an enclosed pantry and cabinetry for organization. Labeled.☺

I have friends who use the top of their refrigerator for food storage, boxes of cereals, cookies, chips, boxes of rice, ugh, drives me crazy, I always have to look away. I compromised and bought an IKEA cabinet with glass doors, and keep my baking items in there in glass containers. I don’t leave anything out either, expect maybe fruit.

Decorating with a small herb garden is pretty and useful. You can have fresh herbs for cooking
  • @bogieboog
You’re so right the problem with decorating with glassware and plates is always the same. It gets dusty dirty, the cooking oils form a sticky film. And then it ALL needs to be cleaned. Ain’t nobody got time for that.
  • @sarahjaye6220
“…whose house do you people think you’re living in” 🤣🤣🤣 THIS IS ME!
  • I'm a professional organiser and there's definitely different types of organisation for different personalities 😊
  • @katybarrass7489
Absolutely love not having clutter in the kitchen. Just ordered a sponge basket to "hide" it in the sink in our newly renovated kitchen - that was the only thing that was bothering me about our sink - thank you Valentina!!
  • @tanyadutton4017
Here I am while watching the video, putting away my cutting boards, clearing my counters, and seeing if there is room under the sink for a small garbage can. 😂
  • No you are NOT crazy . . . I am so on the same page with you in my kitchen! Loved to hear your confirmation of how to keep an appealing kitchen!!!!
  • @user-ef8wm2fh6i
Closed storage for me but I love my lavender kitchenaid. That stays out ❤
  • @sheilafleet7060
I’m with you!! I recently took off that magnetic bar that holds knives. I was so tired of looking at them all hanging there. It gives me such a calm peaceful feeling!!
  • I appreciate all the advice you give, but know that some people like open storage because that is how they organize. The minimal decor works for me but my husband will not pull out the toaster if he has to look for it. I have my kitchen aid stand mixer out but I don’t use it on a regular basis. It was his idea and I want to put it away. Everyone has to decorate to their aesthetic and style.
  • @stephro74
My hubs brings home donuts from work all the time and the Krispy Kreme boxes sit there in the clean, (trying to be) minimal kitchen. I'm so getting a cloche for that! Also, we have the built-in trash and it really is a game-changer... Now, off to declutter my utensil canister! 😆
  • @lananorris1688
Love the live plants in your kitchen! I’m a plant person and that totally speaks to me. The hidden trash is such a must! When we moved into our current home 19 years ago, I put one of those pullout trash bins in. It is wonderful!!! ❤️
