I'm 34 I would argue that DB/DBZ is what got most Americans my age into anime period

I believe Namek as a whole is so unique and genius that it by itself destroyes many entire stories, although i will say buu saga was a falloff of sort mostly due to akira toriyama himself sayibg he was tired of the genre, the ideas and story elements and character motivations with thier interactions boosts it up to top 5, ik the anime is riddled with terrible passing and bad fights, the manga does everything so much better and i highly recvomend it. The manga has incredible art, pacing, and finally panels that made it ICONIC

Dragon ball is the public transit of the anime world: easily accessible for everybody and gets you where you need to go. There are definitely better forms of transportation sure, but people ride transit due to preference or circumstances. As long as everybody makes it to their destination, its all gravy.

The thing about DBZs choreography is it mixes story telling with it. Just off of how Goku fights you know he isn't a saiyan but an earthborn martial artist. Vegeta fights as if he is a regal entity, but has dirty tricks sometimes. Raditz fights dirty all the time, reinforcing the nature of saiyans. Freiza fights cool and collected, like an emperor with no sympathy, etc. All these minor details can easily put a show like DBZ in my top 5, because even the little ones can understand that "Goku no like Raditz and Vegeta" just through a few exchanges of hands.
