The hardest decision can be what to tell the kids and when - we discovered ours had already figured it out for our friend who had cancer - as had her kids, and they knew when it was time as well, so it was really hard for everyone but at least we didn't have to suddenly explain it all to them. He will also be resilient as long as he knows you always love him and so does Freida, no matter what else is going on - a safe place where you are loved means so much more than anything - and the same goes for you too.

Telling the kids of my diagnosis was one of the hardest things I had to do, and they were in their teens at the time. All I can say is that they pick up on things and their imaginations can try and fill in the blanks, and their imaginations can be weird (or maybe that's just my kids .. lol). Sending good vibes to you and the family & hope from the top to the bottom of my heart that things improve for you all.

My son is older than yours. Idk its better or worse in our situation. Kidds thinking straight thru problems in general. We decided just tell him. He had Asperger Syndrome so that's game changer for us. Kind of long fuse reaction. Time showed he understood more than we suspected. Main thing is he told that he is " happy" to know whats going on with Ann ( mom) health

I do not have children, so I cannot speak to that directly. As a child, however, I was never informed about illness or "death as a part of life", with both my mother and my adoptive father severely ill and absent on many occasions through their lives and all I can say is I feel strongly that I would have benefited from being taught about health, mental and physical, and shown the compassion and empathy which I feel is vital in a maintaining a healthy relationship and state of mind for parents & children, together. If you're not together in the toughest of times then when can you be, even though it hurts. Good vibes & great jibber-jabber my brother from a Swedalian mother - <3
