Jaishankar Backs the Philippines Amid Standoff with China | Vantage with Palki Sharma

India's foreign minister S Jaishankar reiterated his support for Philippine sovereignty and called on "all parties" to follow United Nations laws on the high seas in a veiled reference to China. Jaishankar is on a three-nation ttrip to Southeast Asia with stops in the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia. In recent months, the Philippines has clashed repeatedly with China in the South China Sea. Beijing's claims over this region was rejected by a UN court after the Philippines initiated a lawsuit. However, Beijing has ignored the verdict and continued to harass Philippine ships in the region. Jaishankar's visit comes days after Chinese vessels fired water cannons at a Philippine ship. Palki Sharma tells you more.

Salamat India! Mabuhay India & Philippines !!! From: Kabayan in UAE
  • You know I've worked with some Chinese in the past and I know for sure that they are hard working and disciplined. It saddens me that almost all Filipinos now view China as a threat to national security (their actions on the WPS tells all you need to know). But for me Its the CCP. Their continuous assertion for global dominance is simply absurd. Their territory-grabbing-spree is off the charts. Maraming Salamat India for your support and may we work together for the better future.
