THE LIGHT
Lost in a forest of opinions and voices;
Clouding my judgement and limiting my choices,
A shard of Your light beamed through branches and leaves,
A glimmer of hope for a heavy heart that grieves.
I followed Your light that opposed the direction;
Of this broken world’s trends and it’s idol collection.
A path beneath my feet appeared so I ran;
Through pages of Your story and how it all began.
Your beautiful truth made my eyes filled with tears;
With sorrow and regret for denying You for years.
“The story of Jesus is real” I conceded,
“I’m sorry for it all. Forgive me” I pleaded
You wrapped me in a blanket of loving kindness,
Your presence cured my spiritual blindness.
I rejoice in the knowledge that you’re really there,
Will anyone believe me, will anyone care?
Inadequate and awkward at sharing your truth,
As not taken seriously ever since my youth.
So if I pour out on canvas, then will they see;
This new glowing light that beaming in me?
You choose the foolish to confound the wise,
And the weak to confound the mighty in size.
I’ll be your weak fool to be remolded new
And bring you the glory in everything I do.
I’ll never give up till I’ve run my whole race,
Pointing lost souls to the free gift of grace.
Each person is priceless to You in Your eyes,
You bottle our tears when you hear all our cries.
The deceptions of man and his evil plots and schemes
Can’t overpower your river of peace as it streams.
I cling to your promise that You’ll never forsake;
Despite my mistakes and promises I break.
I pray it’s not long until I can come home,
To be with my Saviour and King on the throne.
Thank You my Lord for saving my soul;
And for taking back all that the enemy stole.
