Just because they slap gold paint on it ,does not make it luxury. That place needs an update
  • @antonymclean1130
The penthouse was absolutely dreadful! OMG! Exposed wiring, duct tape, no a/c, and the list goes on and on. They should have paid YOU to camp out there. This video exposed the tallest hotel for what it really is...a facade.

One myth has been dispelled for me from watching your videos. I used to think that people who could afford to spend multiple thousands of dollars on lodging for just a night or so were secretly treated to a world I'll never know - one of gleaming interiors, impeccable service, and wall-to-wall perfection. The surprising truth is that even the super rich need to carefully seek out the few places that really embody that description. A hotel simply being sky-high expensive doesn't mean it isn't really just a sad, run-down place, painted gold.

Gevora Hotel employee talking to every one of his co-workers "I had to close all the blinds in the penthouse after our last guest.. you'll NEVER guess how long it took me"

I used to work as a cleaner in a hotel, we each had a floor and we'd do "quick cleans" every day/every checkout; change bed, clean bathroom, change bins, hoover, make sure cups and stuff was clean, dust etc, but we'd do one room a week of deep clean, and this meant every wall has to be cleaned, every piece of furniture had to be moved and cleaned behind, we'd also hoover the corridor of the rooms last at the end of the day, this penthouse hasn't been deep cleaned in a very very long time, if ever.

I worked in a five star hotel in 1997. The hotel has two staff lifts, and the staff is not allowed to use guest lifts.
  • @DippyDolittle
I'm not sure people will be aware of this, but he had to open quite a few blinds for this video. So make sure you congratulate Tim on his opening skills ❤😂

Man, that penthouse really gives off a 70's rundown motel vibe. Certainly not worth the 1400 euro's a night they're asking.
  • @judeshangout9637
I was actually quite shocked at how shabby and dirty the Penthouse Suite was and indeed the Hotel carpet in general. The place gave me eerie vibes x
  • @cindyjordan2539
That place is absolutley filthy and, frankly, dangerous. No wonder it was so cheap. I would never stay there. I'd be very afraid of fire with those sketchy electrics.
  • @8Carl8
This video has it all, piano playing, dodgy lifts, getting lost in a service corridor, dodgy penthouse, largest “how many people can you fit in a shower” one of your best Tim!
  • @mysteriousgary38
This made me very nervous when I watched this. I think the combination of it being so high and there being cables and air conditioning ducts hanging out the window 😬
  • @gbrading
This hotel is kind of emblematic of what Dubai actually is; The Las Vegas of the Middle East. Pretending to be grand when it's actually a gaudy bauble in the middle of the desert. The lack of service lifts in a hotel that large is crazy.
  • @UnderGatlyktorna
What a horrible hotel. Extremely tacky, dirty, badly maintained, TVs not working, no hot water... I wouldn't stay there even if I got paid. Also, what would happen if the whole hotel had to be evacuated as a result of a fire or a terrorist attack or something? Wait 20 minutes for an elevator or try to run down 72 floors with hundreds/thousands of other people? Disaster waiting to happen. Thanks for a great vid though, as always!
  • @tomlee80
This hotel is an apt visual metaphor for Dubai.
  • @horsehelp4you
When you got stuck on that one floor and the lifts stopped working I was like oh god could this be turning into a horror movie?! 😳😂
  • The Hotel Suite is rather disappointing, to be fair. The Suite is run down , air con not up to snuff, rather dirty and unkept. I would never stay in this Hotel, seems like a bloody nightmare. It’s rather sad that you had to deal with such a terrible experience. I hope your flight home, will be more enjoyable.
  • @mrj4615
The rooms have kitchens because it was originally built as a residential tower. It was changed to a hotel before construction was complete, and the apartments became luxury hotel rooms. I guess it was cheaper/easier to leave the kitchens in than remove them, but no cooking is permitted in them by anyone.
  • @opubodennis9921
The penthouse is horrendous! The blinds should be replaced with a modern remote-controlled one and the warning of not cooking is ironic- why provide a full kitchen when you cannot cook?
