Actually, parrots sometimes pluck in the wild as well. But due to the fact that wild parrots have a lot less time to pluck, the problem usually doesn’t escalate to the same level it does in captivity where they can spend most of the day plucking.

Make sure he has his own swing and toys. If she's on the swing and has the toys. He can't do those things too. This way she doesn't constantly have something,. He too then can remain busy. I would also move them to an area, where their cage is not directly by a window and away from your bigger birds. He may need more stimulation. Things he can shred, or forage through; pulling things out to get to a treat. They have treat wheels. You can fill them with card board, paper shredding, nuts, toys, treats. He would stay busy with working with that. I had a bird, many years ago that came to me as a plucker. These are the things I did. The plucking stopped. Could be diet too,. Maybe what your feeding him, isn't agreeing with him. Each bird, like a child is different. I have had Parrots for over 40 years. I hope this helps. ❤️

I hope you find the answer. He may be an overpreener since he is plucking the other one.

I really feel they had serious problems with breeder. I remember when you fetched them, it was a strange handover from the breeder, and i remember when you saw how the breeder had mutilated baby's flight feathers. So traumatic for them. I hope they will recover from that abuse they suffered at breeders hands. I know how you love your birds. Maybe they need to be separated from bigger birds for a while. I hope all will resolve with these beauties 😊
  • I really hope you find out the reason behind the plucking and I thought maybe because their Love"s feathers and Love is also plucking but I really don't know. Good luck my friend I know you'll find out what it problem is.❤❤❤
  • @neonbuzzards
I feel bad for the other birds still with that bad breeder. 😢

Hi Caroline! Thank you for a very informative lesson!👍. I had a thought strike me while watching: Do u know much about their genetic background? I know “the breeder” (?), wasn’t very honest w you..& so I’m wondering if these little beautiful guys might be closely bred? Did/does he have other hatchlings? Just a thought, as it seems, especially the male, acts almost as if he has a neurological condition.. What do u think? If so, then from genetics or environmental? I wish you great luck w them! (BTY- I’m not much on avian medicine, but have worked w genetic issues in canines) 💞🙏
  • Quieter room for them as they are babies, being around big birds causes undo stress, I know you like your flock together but babies need safety, my Greenwing came from a suicide and was completely barbered, plucked and looked horrible, I used supplements of red palm oil added to food calcium and lots of toys and love, it took around 5 years for all feathers to come back and he now looks wonderful
  • Actually I seen a snake that was clicker trained so they have a brain too

Carolin, quick question, please: my 24 year old Jenday Conure’s head feather color has been slowly changing over the last six or so months, and it seems odd to me. Do you know what could possibly cause this? I’d appreciate any feedback you may have!!! Thanks, and I love all of your birds, and you, of course! 😂😂😂❤❤❤
  • Oh no that's not good you should talk with Marlene and see what she has to say maybe she has something for plucking.
  • Maybe glue some more feathers on them they should feel better 🙄
