The heartbreaking tragedy in this video is the 30 minutes of your life that you wasted in listening to the mindless repetitive narrative.

The tittle to this video should have been the amazing journey of Norm Abram - the master of woodworking.

I was a cabinet maker at the time The New Yankee Workshop began, I watched and recorded every video. It helped me, giving me fresh ideas, Norm Abrams, The New Yankee Workshop, will never be outdated, There is so much knowledge, that every wood crafter should know, I'm now 80 Yrs, and I still seek more knowledge, and still produce classic wood projects, and Norm's programs are always in my mind. Thank you Norm Abrams, for your contribution.

How many times do you need to repeat stuff
  • I watched many, many of Norm's shows. It wasn't for the projects he showcased, but for the woodworking techniques he used. My woodworking career benefited from having recorded almost all those shows, later rewatching several between new shows. I have since retired from my shop of tools and jigs, lumber and projects nearly completed. That is my tragedy, but thanks to Norm, it was a great 20+ years.

I 'm retired and started WW about 3 yr ago. Safety rules are not to be broken. I enjoy a cocktail in the evening so my unbreakable rule is...No power tools sharp edges or chemicals. If I feel like spending some time in the shop , I am limited to broom, files, sandpaper and pencil, paper and ruler to sketch what I plan to do tomorrow. This has worked out OK so far.

Thank you for all the years, Norm. I’ve watched you here and there since I was a young un. “This old House” was a program watched in our house. I’ve always wished I could have learnt woodworking in school. However, because of my gender, we had sewing instead. I suppose it’s about the same. Keep well and take care, Norm!😢 You are an excellent teacher!

Thank you Norm. You gave me so much knowledge throughout the years. Your expertise is top notch! I hope you are enjoying your semi retirement.

Last I know he lives in a house with his wife he had built in Little Compton, RI. He has a wood shopon one side of the house and his wife has a pottery shop on the other.
  • Chronology seems off a bit… the “tragedy” is the video itself

The only heart brake is the 30 minutes I wasted listening to this crap video!

The vid could be better, but Norm is 'the man'!! I've been saying for at least 20 yrs: Norm for President. Norm fixes things, he makes things work out. He pays attention to the details. What better character trait could our president have? He's taught me SO much. I wish for him a long life and much deserved adulation/recognition/respect/celebration/esteem/deference/veneration/and other words of appreciation and support. All the best to Norm!

I've always loved Norm's fondness for fine craftsmanship.I just wish I had Morash's toolshed in my backyard and the skill to use it all. I have to be content with my miniature trains. I finally got the Gerstner wood toolchest that I always wanted. And no space for anything else.
