    Just a note about criminal traffic, even if it gives little money they're still worth destroying as the main benefit is the reputation increase you get from doing it. This is especially true for Holy Order systems as among the base game starts and factions they will almost always (except for the Untested Explorer and Accomplished Scientist starts) start with negative rep low enough to ban you from their stations, and destroying criminal traffic is the fastest way to raise their rep enough to allow you to use their stations. Also an early money making tip for those who have the patience to just sit still, battlefield scavenging. This is especially easy for the Young Gun start, if you go the jump gate on the left side of Black Hole Sun IV (where you spawn) and got Second Contact II Flashpoint that is a system that early on the Argon and Holy Order will be constantly throwing ships at each other in until they exhaust enough of their ships for war to slow down. So if you spend like the first hour of the run just sitting in the south side of Second Contact II Flashpoint (where the jumpgates to The Void, Second Contact VII and True Sight are) you can loot a bunch of ship drops there as long as you are careful to avoid getting caught in the cross fire (neither Argon nor the Holy Order will attack you, but diving into the middle of them can risk you flying into their attacks), which can make you few million very easy and with basically no risk. You can make things easier by deploying 3 of the satellites you spawn with, one at the True Sight gate, one in True Sight at the Second Contact gate, and one one at The Void gate (sometimes Xenon ships which are universally hostile will come through The Void since it's right next to a Xenon system), as these satellites will reveal drops that would be outside you sensor range and let you easily know which battlefield you should be going to for looting. The best drops are Programmable Field Arrays, Damaged Singularity Engines, Flux Capcitors, and Spacefly Eggs (25 of them can make caviar which is worth 1 million). The first three are particularly important as they only can be gotten from destroyed ships and you need 1 of each to make the SETA which lets you speed up time. A more dangerous money making tip for an easy 9 million or a free destroyer that only takes like 10 minutes is to go to True Sight > Holy Vision > Faulty Logic I > Faulty Logic VII and then head to the north west side of Faulty Logic VII, you can find an abandoned Paranid Destroyer here that you can claim for yourself. This is very dangerous though as Faulty Logic is owned by the Xenon so you will be passing through 2 enemy systems and then needing to take a slow ship back through them, but if you can do it that Destroyer can keep your first station very safe, be used to fight Xenon for missions, or if you take it to a shipyard and strip off all the components and sell the ship you can make around 9 million (exact amount depends on the loadout it spawns with as it is slightly randomized).

    Regarding Mines... If you are far enough way or "Out of System" Mines don't trigger. Send a Ship to the mission area (might have to check elevation) drop the mines in the equipment-tab of the ship (Wrench-icon) and mission successful with 0% risk.
