BAERBOCK: Scandal at the Federal Foreign Office! Pakistani agent entered germany with false papers?

Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has rejected accusations that the Federal Foreign Office may have allowed Pakistani agents to enter Germany as part of an admission program for Afghans. If the security checks carried out by the German authorities in Pakistan revealed that an applicant was not telling the truth, they would not be granted a visa, said the Green politician in response to a question from a journalist during a visit to the arms company Flensburger Fahrzeugbau Gesellschaft (FFG) in Flensburg.

Baerbock added that she was surprised “that people are surprised that security interviews are looked at closely. After all, that is the purpose of security interviews."

Cicero: Embassy in Islamabad warned of Pakistani agents

The magazine Cicero had reported that the Federal Foreign Office may have brought Pakistani agents to Germany as part of an admission program for Afghanistan. Citing confidential documents, the magazine reported that the German embassy in the Pakistani capital Islamabad had sent a letter to the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin warning of a family of seven allegedly from Afghanistan who had already received promises of admission from the German government.

“There is a strong suspicion that [the] family may be a case orchestrated by Pakistani authorities,” the magazine quotes from internal correspondence from the Federal Foreign Office. At that time, five of the seven alleged family members had already been brought to Germany. They are still living in Germany. According to Cicero, the alleged father, who claimed to have worked as a hairdresser for the Australian army, and one of his alleged sons have had their visas withdrawn.

Baerbock: Visa procedures in Pakistan run according to law and order

With regard to the visa procedures, Baerbock explained that it was “established practice, of course, according to law and order” for the Ministry of the Interior and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to work together with the security authorities. It is the purpose of the security authorities to “check in security interviews at the embassies where many visas are issued whether everything is going according to law and order”. This was also done in this case, the Foreign Minister made clear.
