I've always felt that pokemon like Victini and Hoopa were true mythical pokemon, since you can't obtain them without an event.

My favorite mythical is actually Pecharunt. Primarily because having a tanky pokémon that passively confuses the opponent after inflicting poison fulfills a childhood dream of mine.
  • @KemosabeeKat
Zarude has my favorite backstory for a mythical. My thought is it's a pokemon so rare it's a crytid because it's almost extinct in the wild, with maybe a couple populations left. Like some real primate species.

well according to serebii, gen 9 no longer considers ultra beasts as sub legendary pokemon but their own special group. Much like how paradox pokemon are their own special group. My favorite mythical pokemon is Arceus.

The Shiinotic error is probably a mixup with marshadow. Due to similarities in the Japanese name. Making it a mythical instead of marshaow with is not listed as mythical in the code
  • I’m definitely fine with these things being inconsistent. I like when unspoken rules are broken. Like legendaries can’t evolve or fossil Pokémon must be Rock type. They break their own rules to give a great new spin in attaining one. Not every shape needs to fit its hole. Also do you think Zeraora fits into that new definition of Mythical Pokémon? Hey, maybe the fossils of Galar would all be Rock type if they were revived appropriately. So Rock/Electric, Water, Ice and Dragon respectively. But they’re all half and half so they get dual types of everything but Rock.

My personal definition for mythical pokemon in the pokemon world (since the definition is a pokemon only Obtainable for the first time in Through something you have to do out of the game) a pokemon that was Speculated exist but there was no Proof for a time

The way i always viewed them was in lore and rarity. Let's say I lived in Pokemon World. If i lived in Hoenn for 50 years, I could expect to hear about groudon, kyogre, rayquaza, the Lati twins, and possibly the regis at least somewhere in that time. However, when it comes to Deoxys & Jirachi, i wouldn't be surprised if multiple generations never heard about them.

Mr1upz probably said it best: mythical Pokemon are just Action Replay legendaries
  • @lawznwdsc
I honestly do hope we get more mythical Pokemon in the future and they have their own events with lore about them.
  • When I was in school in the Philippines, the history lesson that split the definition between myth and legend is evidence of it or lack thereof.. Legends are tales of something that highly likely occurred which then got hyped up through story telling as time goes on. While Myths are those that are based on something with no clear evidence or even a chance of evidence existing.. Myths mostly based on religious stories while legends are based on historical events. Wish Pokemon would reflect this given that Arceus is a mythical and the regis are legends
  • Can't recall just how many times growing up that my dad yelled at me never to stick my hand anywhere near Rotom-3.
  • @baddragonite
Melmetal was also distributed as an event in Home, I assume because they figured some players probably didn't want to play Go
  • @RubyRider-et3fp
My only question is how are they gonna treat meltan and melmetal going forward, will it show up when we get to kanto, alola, galar because of the g-max,all or none?!
  • @juraganash2809
I still see mythicals as Event released Pokémon. the reason that they are in games now is so you are able to catch m all without events (but only 1 each)
  • @lucideirune1635
There are some shiny mythical Pokémon that have yet to release in MSG. It is possible they might debut them in Pokémon Go (which the Pokemon can be sent to Pokemon Home and MSG), but might require you to be at an in person event similar to FRLG Deoxys which could be shiny hunted. BDSP saw the debut of shiny Arceus.
  • @Lupinemancer87
I hope Game Freak releases more of the old Mythical Pokemon soon, like how they just gave us Meloetta in Blueberry Academy, cuz I only need 6 to complete my living dex in HOME. Deoxys, Diancie, Hoopa, Volcanion, Magearna and Marshadow.
