This visit was suggested by a subscriber. I'm glad I checked it out. Come with me, and see a 1990s supermarket, abandoned and frozen in time.

It was a great supermarket back in the day. When it was shop n bag then because talk of the town and it was only open for a year. And then it became daunoras. And that viewer was me. That place is a time capsule

Hello from a fellow local creator. Thank you for featuring Daunora’s! I grew up nearby and I remember shopping here as a young lady. I never even thought to peek in 😂 It hasn’t changed a bit. It’s like they just randomly closed and never opened again 😢 Brought back so many memories!
  • I’ve been to that Plaza many times! A lot of good businesses, especially Family Dollar. The Cashier who works there is very nice and he definitely deserves a raise.

I remember when the original Shop N Bag opened in 1972. My brother was a stock-boy there. This was the year that they had the toilet-paper shortage caused by Johnny Carson, but we had toilet paper because my brother worked there. There was also originally a card shop next to it and also Eckerd Drugs. A gas station on the very corner of Dante and Lincoln with an old-man bar across the street called The Driftwood. Man, those were the days. Wish I could go back in time 52 years. We rode our bikes all around there in the woods that used to surround that area. Even rode our horses on those trails and would stop at the dumpster out back and feed them produce that could no longer be sold. Such great memories!
  • I'm on YouTube searching Vineland, having moved away 4 years ago and I'm super homesick right now... Wow, this video was so cool! I grew up near that plaza in the 90s. Shop n Bag was our goto supermarket. It was so great back in the day because they had a section with video and Nintendo rentals. But as far as the rest of the store, it was incredibly outdated even then. I'm sure the cost of constant repairs was what did it in for Daunora's. There was a lot of life in that plaza back in the 90s. The dollar store was where the old Eckerd Drugs was before they moved into the smaller building across the street in 1998. That was my first job! (then Rite Aid bought them out and they moved to the current location on the other corner). Next to the old Eckerd's was the laundromat my mom always went to. Next to that was an ice cream shop called "the scoop". The pizza parlor used to be across the street and was demolished to make way for the new Eckerd's building. Before Dominic's moved there, it was a hallmark shop. The stores between there and the barber shop would come n go so fast, I couldn't keep up with it lol... But Gullo's (the barber shop) has such a long standing reputation, I doubt that they'll go anywhere until that plaza is demolished. Those light poles... I'm surprised that they are still there! Leave it to New Jersey to put a circle in a plaza! It made a lot more sense when there was a lot of traffic coming and going. Thanks for the nostalgia, man!

Grew up in the neighborhood right across the street. The tanning salon has been closed for literally forever, the hair salon is still open, and it’s funny cause I only ever was in that grocery store one time as Daunora’s when my uncle was a manager for a hot minute (I remember my mom saying it was expensive). By the time we moved to the neighborhood (03) it was already closed.

That’s my neck of the woods. I never knew that was ever talk of the town! Thanks for the info!
  • WOW, really enjoyed your TOTALLY AWESOME & COOL abandoned video!

Fascinating. I have never owned a business, but you would think the owner would stop by and grab the adding machine? Just odd to me. The book shelf? Your videos are enjoyable.
