Soft spoken ASMR about the History of Piracy. In this video, we explore the history of pirates, in the Antiquity, the Middle Ages and Modern Times, from the Mediterranean Sea to the China Seas, the Baltic Sea and the Caribbean. I also tell you about the lives and exploits of famous pirates and privateers, including the Barbarossa brothers, Ching Shih, Henry Morgan or Blackbeard.

Ever wonder why pirates are often depicted wearing an eye patch? When pirates would board a target vessel the first order of business was to eliminate or subdue the occupants of the ship in question. The majority of the fighting took place on the ships deck during daylight hours. Once the ships deck was clear it was necessary to go below deck where they would likely encounter another wave of armed opposition. The transition from the bright mid day sunlight to the darkness below deck would leave the raiding pirates nearly blind for several minutes until their eyes adjusted to the extremely poorly lit conditions. Enter the eye patch- immediately upon going below deck a pirate would remove his patch to reveal an eye that due to having been shielded from the sun was already adjusted to the darkness and ready to see whatever threats might await him below deck.
  • I would have long stopped watching ASMR videos if it weren't for you and ASMRctica. Educational asmr is the best.

I can not express how happy I have been since your return from your long layoff. Your videos were terrific before, some of the best ASMR videos out there in my humble opinion, but the quality of your new videos has really taken things to another level. This was a wonderful listen, thank you so much for all your hard work.

A Pirate walks into a bar and says “Aye, Barkeep, gimme a pint of ale.” The Barkeep says “Will do, but tell me .... why do you have the ships wheel in yer pants?!” The pirate replies “Aaaarrrggghhh , it’s drivin me nuts!”

I don't know if you read the comments for new topics, but I would like a travel through the human body/bloodstream, visiting the organs, getting to know their functions and how they work together.

The impressive thing with this is not only your heavenly blessed voice but also the amount of knowledge in these videos. You are basically a professor 👨‍🏫
  • @Waknoodle
I keep trying to get through this video because I LOVE this topic but I cant stay awake more than 30 mins! Best ASMR creator ever (I've even gotten my 8 year old son listening and all he wants to listen to is you). So glad you decided to come back.

Typically I'm not into ASMR. I don't really "get" the stimulation from it like some people do, but the storytelling is educational, descriptive, and quite relaxing. I usually have a hard time sleeping but this is just as mentally stimulating as it is calming. Merci beaucoup!

  • Thank you so much for these posts. I fall asleep quickly and wake up hours later with peaceful gentle sounds- and then I can still go back to sleep. Nothing else has ever worked this well.
