Marques is the grim reaper of EV startups at this point

As someone who's been driving a base model car from 2010 for the past 12 years, I have a very different perspective. I was very impressed with this car most of the way through the video. Almost every complaint he has either didn't register to me as a problem at all or I just don't care about. Plastic panels? My car has worse. Gotta press a button to unlock? Honestly that's how I prefer it. Heated and ventilated seats in front and back is awesome, you almost never see that. A terrible UI in the car? It has Android Auto, and a backup camera, so it's already a massive upgrade over what I got. Honestly this video sold me on this car as a good budget option, with no real significant downsides (for me), until he said it cost $50,000. I was assuming this was a budget car so it was more affordable. Suddenly those minor nitpicks and complaints seem more reasonable for such an expensive car.

I got a 2023 vinfast vf8 plus on dec 26 of last year. I can say the software is a bit buggy but this car isnt as bad as most yt reviewers put it out to be. Its been 4 months now and we are quite happy with it, other than the software where we update it at the dealer every 3 months to keep it work most efficient. There is a 10 years warranty so i trust. Definitely worth 65k canadian dollars.

After buying my first car with a HUD, I kind of want to only have cars with a HUD now. It's really nice.

Having just spent 5 weeks in Vietnam and just about to leave, I've seen so many of these! They've even got the VinBus and Vinfast scooters that look gorgeous. there's a Vinfast taxi company here who use the bikes and cars exclusively. I believe they've even got a charging network.

AFAIK, creep mode is supposed to control whether or not the car creeps forward, not prevent you from rolling backward. Not that it's not something that shouldn't even happen in the first place in an EV.

I’ve seen 3 of these this week. So glad you put out this video!
  • I truly enjoy that your thumbnail has no obnoxious text or arrows or general bullshit. Kudos good sir.

NancyDrew pre-loaded is a deal breaker for me

I've actually driven this car, unlike most of the commenters who I suspect are regurgitating other content creators' opinions, and I gotta agree with you. No, it's not exceptional in any sense of the word, but it's... fine. Certainly it's not the utter disaster some commenters seem to believe it is, at least. It's a mediocre transportation appliance whose biggest flaw is the asking price relative to the competition-- at $30-35k it would actually measure up. But if I bought (or more likely, leased) this car and gave it to my mom to replace her aging CRV, she would drive it without complaint, with the one wildcard being reliability of course.

I'm eight minutes in and can't tell where the bad is. Even that UI, it seems fast, not laggy whatsoever and I really love the visuals.

Thank your honesty and not being a corporate sellout with your reviews. Good or bad, you point it out; car reviewing as it should be

that fan blowing might be a feature some cars have of blowing air through the vents after you lock your car, to prevent moisture and any growth. my new hyundai has it too, sometimes i come back into the car after a quick errand and the fans are still going. vinfast is from vietnam where it’s pretty humid so it might be that!
  • Vinfast is a site I go to decode my car's VIN. I can't get over the name.

Current owner of 2 VF8 here in SoCal. Picked up my SDI Plus a year ago and CATL Plus 2 months ago. At 2:30: with key fob near you, you can kick to open trunk for Plus trim. Or select trunk in the car buddy on infotainment to open trunk. At 7:27: to unlock car without key fob, you can press that small black button on door handle. Coming from Subaru with keyless entry, i had to get used to clicking that button. At 9:58: you could drive without seatbelt if you release e-brake underneath the steering column. Agree on fps for camera. VF doesnt have auto hold. It only has hill assist. To activate, you gotta slam on the brake hard so it holds vehicle for a few secs before you switch your foot from brake to accelerator. Again, i was spoiled w Subaru’s auto hold and was something i had to get used to in vf8. I took delivery of 2nd VF8 due to their promotion of $300/month for Plus trim for 36 months. The residual value to pay out at the end is cheap enough that makes the 2023 Plus just shy of $40k. Being the new kid on the block, VF has tried really hard to please customers. In California, their call center is 24/7, so i call to report problems any time of the day. They then send tech to my house/work, drop off loaner and drive my car to service center. After service is done, tech comes out to my work/house to pick up loaner and drop off my car. This level of service is top-notch for me. I have videos on my channel of some of my road trips. I have driven to Scottsdale az, las vegas, big bear and NorCal between my 2 VF8s. ❤

For a company that came out of nowhere, this new company is making some impressive moves.

The same event or object can be evaluated differently by different people; some may judge it as A while others may judge it as B. There are those who may love it, and those who may hate it. We should respect all opinions and evaluations. Whether it is right or wrong, it will surely contribute to making something better.
