How I turned my Sea Monkeys red by feeding them Astaxanthin powder!

In this video I do a demonstration of how to feed your brine shrimp Haematococcus Pluvialis powder and how it's able to turn them red. Artemia are usually a green colour because of the microalgae they conusme, but by changing their food you can also change their colour. We look at a culture of algae under the microscope and see the phytoplankton up close.

  • Just got some astaxanthin powder and fed it to my sea monkeys on Mars. I love how it turns the water red. Very Mars like. I’m hoping to get babies now.

I'm a little relieved to learn that raising the second generation is a common problem! My tank only has about 8 adults left (1st generation) after six months, and was wondering why no babies ever appeared. Maybe I'll give this a shot! 😄

Thank you for this. I now feed my first two or three feedings with Astaxanthin powder and I have so many more babies make it to maturity than ever before! Thanks again
  • This is awesome , I always wanted sea monkeys as a child and did not know you could still purchase these. Definitely would be interested in watching a nursery set up. Great content thanks.

This is one of the best videos the algorithm has randomly led me to in a long time. Amazing stuff 👌🏽

I just got my shipment of astaxanthin powder! I am excited to try it out with my tanks. They are my first ones and not quite thriving yet, I’m hoping this will help! Thanks for the helpful research and suggestion 😊

How cool, that’s such an interesting find. Keep it up

I'm really interested in that video on culturing live microalgae to mimic their natural ecosystem and diet. I'd also like to see you unbox, use, and review that nursery!

Awesome vid! Would love to see other ways on changing their colours!

I have ordered the sea monkeys and they will arrive today. I have also ordered a heat mat and a small oxygen pump. Sea Monkeys was something I always wanted as a kid. Now that I have watched your videos, I hope that I will be able to keep them. Thank you so much for your videos.

Having just set up my Aqua dragons tank, this was very interesting. I will try this out once my dragons are fully grown. Thank you.
  • I'm going to try this! I've just had some babies born, and sadly died, in the last week or so, and wondered why, as I was feeding them growth food, and oxygenating the tank daily. Now I know the adults were likely eating all the food first!

Love love love this video. I’ve been wanting to get back into sea monkeys but I wasn’t sure how to make sure my colony LASTS. I’ll try this.
  • @flyguy10
Just wanted you to know that you inspired me to start my own colony! Just started my monkeys on mars tank!
  • @madamedoobery
I started feeding my Sea Monkeys this product a few months back when I saw your first post about it. They love it. Mine almost seek it out when I feed them with it 😀
