  • This is very tragic. At this point there are clearly no survivors to be rescued, it is a mass grave. My heart goes out to the families and the loved ones of those taken and those almost take.

As one who has worked in that country, landslides are not uncommon in such a mountainous region. No where for villagers to build away from them.
  • @Caketime2
How did that area contain 2000? That's crazy!
  • Heart breaking news. There's just so much pain and suffering in the world today. If it isn't people hurting people, it's the weather going a little insane. Kinda gets you wondering about things. All we can do is pray 🙏

Prayers for this Papua New Guinea village 💔🙌🏾💔

I had no idea FOX practiced journalism. Well done.

not trying to be insensitive, but it doesnt seem to add up, looking at the size of the landslide from the air. UN says 600, they say 2000. I wonder if they get more aid packages if they have higher numbers?
  • @MF99K
Those numbers are tragic but I’m trying to understand the population density here. My area has had multiple same-size or larger landslides that only killed 10-30 people. The first estimate I saw that said it was around 200 which seems more accurate to me. Regardless, any loss of life is tragic

One thing is a bit weird. When you look at the Location of the Landslide on satellite Images (before the Landslide happened), there are only around 5 Houses and the Landslide itself isn't that big. How is it possible that so many People are burried? Also they talk about the entire Villages destroyed but there are only a few houses and only forest. Did i miss something or can Someone explain it?
  • I'm sad for the lost lives and livelihood. But confused how a village with about 4000 population, fears about 2000 buried, but also reports about 4000 survivors..
  • Google Earth the landslide coordinates and explain where there were at least 5,000 residents here: 5°22′26″S 143°23′19″E

In the gray area at the top of the slide, I see what looks like a giant ghostly face looking down in horror at the devastation below.
  • @AutomanicJack
there are never ever 2000 burried. pls do look the videos and satellite photos.. there only were few houses there on the site before. somethings wrong with this number
