I've listened to this twice. You are both such kind and caring professionals. I laughed at Dr. Fung's rendition of the Kempner rice and sugar diet. My thoughts exactly! I'm maintaining a 65 lb loss since 2010. Now, at 68, I'm moving to IF and am feeling such freedom in not having to think about food all day long! Completely new mindset. Thank you to both of you.

Dr Fung. I can tell you are getting a little aggravated by trying to tell people the answer to why we gain weight or get diabetes, but they are just not listening. 😂it's not a drug you have to take or the thought that some people can't lose weight because they have no control or don't really want to. It's understanding the true why. You have saved my life by teaching me to understand my body and taking control back. I now have an amazing relationship with my body. You da man!

Intermittent fasting is extremely beneficial and cutting out sugar and refined carbohydrates add more benefits. I am 86 years old and was in the prediabetic range. Now after 9months I have lost 25 pounds of weight and my bloodwork shows I am no longer prediabetic, triglycerides are way down HDL is up LDLs are 62 and 63 . I feel absolutely great. I will continue to try to get my A1c down more it is 5.9 and I want to get it down to 5.5 or below. Unfortunately Drs do not order fasting Insulin levels which would be beneficial, but I can do without. Thanks Dr. Fung, a year ago I listened to one of your podcasts and then right away bought your book about fast ing, what an eye opener!!!

He made a point! He said “If you are emotional eater, deal with your emotion”.

Some of us can’t even eat veg carbs. I went carnivore, lost 64 lbs and reversed my pre-diabetes. Hormone doc told me to stop eating so much meat and add back in some veg. Gained 20lbs, A1C back up to 5.9 from 5.4, and fasting glucose is high now. My body also hurts, and I’m having night sweats again. I am going back to carnivore.

I'm 65, I'm recently diabetic... I'm using Berberine. And I've been losing weight and my morning blood glucose is going down. Recently I added intermittent fasting... it's not as hard as I thought it would be. But sometimes I don't. I think it is something you need to do intermittently. I think IF is much better than trying to follow a diet (my favorite 4 letter word). But I'm not in a hurry to lose weight. I just want to be able to keep it off.

I started intermittent fasting 16:8 - I started eating at 10:00, finished at 4:00. At the beginning it was difficult. Now, 10 months later, I am so not hungry anymore that I often finish eating at 2 or earlier. Sometimes I could eat just once a day out of hunger, but I eat twice because I like to eat! Lol!

I had a patient a month or two ago who was failing on Trulicity with a HgA1c of 9.8. I told her she needed to use Intermittent Fasting. I saw her yesterday and she is off the Trulicity and all meds and now has a HgA1c of 5.1. IF works.

I was amazed to find eating carbs and lowering fat actually cause me to loose weight. I used to fast and lost some weight. And hair. Now using macros and finally getting the success I've been craving since I read The Obesity Code. Oh, and I thought I was addicted to sugar too but turns out I just needed to actually be accountable for what I am eating and eat enough protein and carbs to provide adequate nutrition. Calorie deficits come in many forms.

I’m struggling with my weight today since my diagnoses of hypothyroidism/Hashimoto's a couple years ago. Thanks for the podcast.

One reason there is so much idiocy surrounding this, is that the generl public simply refuses to acknowledge the well established fact, that fructose is addictive. If we talk about fructose consumption in that context (as an addictive substance) then everything Dr. Fung is talking about is just patently obvious. Fasting is a proven mechanism for helping fructose addicts break that addiction. It is as simple as that.
