"When you eat your Smarties, do you eat the red ones last ? Do you suck them very slowly, or crunch them very fast ? Eat that candy coated chocolate , but tell me when I ask, when you eat your Smarties do you eat the red ones last" ...this jingle is embedded in every Canadian of my generation. Love the video !

We have American "Smarties" in Canada, but up here they're called "Rockets"

As someone that grew up in Canada I have had all of these. My favorites are All Dressed chips, Coffee Crisp and Cadbury Caramilk. Not that any of the candies listed are bad. They are all great.
  • “ is Halloween popular in Canada?“..... yes, all us little kids love going from igloo to igloo, collecting our beaver and moose treats.... 🙄🇨🇦
  • Can't be a full Canadian taste test without the Vachon family of fine products: Jos Louis, Ah, Caramel, Passion Flakie, Billot Log, 1/2 Moon to name a few
  • Old Dutch are the OG of ketchup chips and are the best lol
  • @majbrat
The colors of Smarties are more subdued now than when I was a kid because they went away from the additives for coloring. They are best to me if you can suck on them for a bit, then the chocolate seems much tastier when melted. 😉
  • The original kethcup chips are Old Dutch. Lay's are good and many prefer them, but they're not OG.
  • With chips, it's always good to turn the bag upside down and give it a couple of shakes. It redistributes the flavour crystals that settle on the bottom of the bag.

CRUNCHIE belongs in every Canadian snack taste session!
  • Was watching reactions to canadian snacks, and your video popped up, and I'm really glad I watched it! I'm from Quebec and I loved your reactions! You gained a new subscriber! Keep up the work, and looking froward for more canadian snacks reaction, hopefully the whole Vachon Family lines of cakes... created in Québec, might I add... ;) the Jos Louis chocolate cream filled cake... the Demi-Lune vanilla cream filled half cake...and many more! Much love and respect from Montmagny, Québec! xo
  • I ate Mars bars in USA since the 60's, but around 80 they quit putting the whole almonds on top ( under the chocolate) so I quit. Haven't looked for them since. Being from Montana, we loved getting Cadbury chocolate from Canada.
  • When I was a kid in the 1970s, my friends and I would take the ferry boat up from Seattle to B.C. and bring back toffee and other kinds of candy that one cannot buy in the USA. 😊
  • Hello from Prince Edward Island, Canada. This was fun. If I may offer a "next time" suggestion. Bring back a "Wunderbar" from Canada. If you like Reese's, you'll love Wunderbar (By Cadbury).

Mars bars came on the Canadian scene years after our Malted Milk bars

Been living in the US for a few years now, but anytime my family and I go up for a visit to Canada, we always bring back so many snacks, ranging from Smarties, Coffee Crisp, All Dressed Chips, cheezies, etc. We stock up when we make the trip.
  • There is a historical story behind the Red Ones Last and why they made the commercial. But it's a long story.

Mars bars used to exist in the U.S., I used to eat them all the time back in the 80's. I stopped seeing them in the mid 90's. As for Ketchup chips, you can't get them in the U.S., in conventional grocery stores. Also, the best Ketchup chip brand is Old Dutch, also, it's a Canadian owned company and brand, wheras Lays is owned by Frito Lay, and is a U.S. Brand. For those with a dairy allergy, don't eat the Lays Ketchup chips, because they contain milk. Old Dutch is the way to go.

The first time I saw Maynard's it was their wine gums. It was a roll of gummies and kinda looked and tasted (or as kids would think) but oh so good
