XMRE Blue Line Ration (More Affordable MRE Option?) EMS & Police Meal Ready To Eat Taste Test Review

2024-05-05に共有
When it comes to emergency food rations, XMRE is one of the most well-known companies. They produce several individual Meal Ready to Eat options. Their Blue Line MRE is a field ration marketed towards government institutions, medical facilities, educational institutions, municipal entities, law enforcement, public service entities, and emergency preparedness programs. Additionally, they are available on the commercial market for civilian use. The Blue Line meal kit also happens to be slightly less expensive than XMRE's normal MRE offering because it contains slightly less food.

First responder and retired military here: I can see where they were going with this particular option (without the heater pad).. Kind of like the First Strike Ration or LRP Ration; something you can open and eat on the go when time is very very limited or when that overtime assignment goes way way into overtime and you need a quick an healthy(ish) pick-me-up.
  • as someone who occasionally eats lunch from the dollar store(its my closest food option) the chicken creations are not enough I usually buy 2 with a pack to tortillas and it is still a light lunch
  • The main needs to be bigger. Other than that..... I think it's meant as a quick snack.
  • So they give you chicken that’s best used by May 15 2021 lol
  • I predict you’ll be hungry in an hour. Nice DIY apple crumble!

All looked yummy 😋. I do eat the Starkist tuna pouches, so I'm sure chicken will be good too

From what I've seen on all the "Blue Line" XMRE's is that the main is the least calorie dense component. The side items and snacks contain 300-400 calories each while the mains are consistently around 200. Which seems a bit backwards to me....

Like you, I was a little skeptical about the "cheap" version of the rations game (having bought 2 cases of Humanitarian rats and regretting it), but it didn't look bad at all. I do agree with the child-sized portion of the main. Tried your hot sauce trick (coincidentally, the same stuff I had purchased this morning in an effort to try something new) with a chicken sandwich similar to that. I like the sauce. My go-to has always been Marie Sharp's Smoked Habanero, but I have been getting tired of that and picked up 2 or 3 small bottles of various types to try. Good review.
  • I like the "Chicken Creations" as a quick lunch sandwich. 😎👍

When XMRE first came on the market, they had random menus which is a problem if you have food allergies. When I reached out to them about that, I was told they bought remaineders from various component producers and kitbashed, so they weren't even consistent just following an outline of component types and price point. A friend of mine bought a couple and they had a two year spread on the components in the same meal with the shortest six months away. Maybe they've gotten their shit together, but there is a different between "cost efficient" and "cheap", and XMRE is cheap- it is an unhappy meal with a huge cookie.
  • I think I would have been better to make my own MRE with store bought and my vacuum sealer. Good review though and I glad you brought in your own seasoning. I always carried my own in the field.
  • Not a big fan of the XMRE. They seem expensive for what you get. Might as well just make your own and rotate it every year or so. What may be their saving grace is they appear to be able to keep up production while others can't. Good idea with the makeshift apple crumble.
  • @KaylynnStrain
probably equivalent to a TOTM since they are also a lower calorie version of US MERE
  • That looks excellent. Could you make up a MRE indented for 50 year old tech support people? Should be mostly coffee and sugar.
  • @shagrath3
Where did you get that mandalorian shirt ?
  • @noahboat580
I actually got spiced apples in my bugout bag. 'Really i see this as some sort of quickish meal if youve been really putting hours in on the day. The only problem is is its clearly repackaged from past MRE menus, which isnt bad but it lacks any kind of food-restrictive rations for anyone whos vegetarian or has food allergies.

........ But.... But.... How do you want me to paramedic without 1800.00 MG of caffeine?????? I DON'T NEED FOOD! I NEED HAPPY HOLY STAY-AWAKEY MAGIC!!!
  • @jesper509
As a non american i don't get why there is almost no "real" food and instead a lot of sugary "candy". Same in regular MREs.
