'That's a dangerous message,': Planned Parenthood Wisconsin warns of potential impacts from Iowa's

A spokesperson from Planned Parenthood Wisconsin says, the impacts of Iowa's latest abortion ban could have ripple effects on abortion clinics throughout the midwest.

"The bans and the restrictions that are being enacted on a state-by-state basis, not only creates a strain and access issues for folks who live in those states, but it also puts a strain on the medical systems of folks that do have access," said Analiese Eicher, Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin's Director of Communications.

Effective July 29, Iowa law states as soon as heart activity is detected, a woman cannot have an abortion. This is typically around 6-weeks of pregnancy.

Now, clinics across the region are making a plan to manage the potential influx of patients access states, such as Wisconsin, may see.
