  • They along with Lumo improved the quality and decreased the hate on the modern IET's which had very poor seating. Great video mate.
  • That was quick! Incidentally, I've noticed XC have already started operating some of the ex-Avanti Voyagers, as one of them was working Edinburgh-Plymouth according to RTT.

For those of us old enough to remember, I'm getting class 91 flashbacks here... Top speed of a new fleet that can't be used due to infrastructure limitations and probably never will be if history repeats itself. Nobody wants to build tilting trains at a sensible price any more to take advantage of TASS on WCML so here we are. Compromised again.

The echoed announcements on that train remind me of vintage airport announcements.

I dont understand how anyone looked at that interior and thought mmmmm yes this is a premium experience
  • I've booked an Avanti trip from Euston to Liverpool in July. It's class,( because I like 1st. class train travel). I was shocked by the fare - £118. I live in Italy, where for far less I can get a premium class return from Milan to Rome and home again, on a Freccia at 300km. per hour .

They look nice, can't wait to ride them this summer.

FYI for the wireless chargers, in the clip you showed at least, you just missed the pad. The coil in the phone is in the middle not the bottom. Thanks for the coverage of the new trains!
  • These Brad new Avanti trains are amazing I can’t wait to ride one I hope to also do a trip report on it
  • Nice Job you reached 20k subscribers, I thought you were someone else, then I recognized your nice thumbnail design style, really like it. Good Job your videos
  • Not really bothered what equipment Avanti uses; I just need a TOC that operates a regular, reliable service with next-to-no cancellations. Come back Virgin; all is forgiven.

The announcements make the guard and buffet staff sound like they are down at London Euston . Hope they sort that out .

Thanks for the upfront honest good review here!, always awesome watching your videos., last time i was in the UK & that was like..... i travelled around on British Rail Intercity125

So I recently went on the 805 to London and boy was it a nightmare, the train I was meant to get had been cancelled at Crewe after coming fresh out of the depot, and by the time I made it to Chester from Runcorn East, I had no time to make a connecting service down to Crewe, luckily though a 58 minute late 805 was nearly at Chester and would give me about 15 minutes connection time, or so I thought, the train ended up getting to the station 67 minutes late and had to join another 805 whilst sat at the platform, this made the train so late I missed the connection at Crewe and had to end up getting a pendolino down to the capital, to say the least u was not happy On the otherhand after a lovely day in London I timed it just right to get an 805 back to Chester, this only being 10 minutes late on Arriva at Chester due to speed restrictions on the 805’s I give the whole experience an 8/10, would’ve been 10/10 if they were able to reach full line speed, and the morning run I’d give a 2/10 due to how late the trains were

If they get dispensation to run the 805s at 125 on the Trent Valley passengers will discover exactly why I spent the 1970s getting tilt systems to work, as their coffee slides sideways off the tables! It's about 'passenger comfort' and no amount of extra acceleration out of the curves will cancel out the lateral acceleration during the curves.
  • @Fitlad75
never understand in this country why they don't just reduce the prices to fill the seats, it's a win for everyone
  • @ce1834
Quite a step up from the Voyagers, even without tilt imo. Great sets! Going to be interesting to see if they'll be allowed to run at 125mph at some point in these sections

Excellent appraisal of yet another Hitachi AT300 variant 🙂👍🏽 The GWR ones on my region are truly awful and after nearly 7 years in service for the GWR 800/0’s, most of the interiors are now looking worn with badly rattling plastic panelling, stained carpets and some seat bases (even in 1st class) sunk so far, you can feel the metal bar underneath 🫣 The one good thing about these 805’s is that they were not DFT specified like GWR/LNER, so there is better seating, better lighting and they seem to be fitted out better inside 🤔 Lets see what they are like after a few years in service and lets hope they are not in a sorry state, like most of the GWR AT300’s 🫣
