  • That WAS a nice smorgasbord of Van Lifers out there 😂 Thanks for helping me shovel out!

Love the segue --"Out of desperation they turned to cannibalism, but today for me on the menu I'm gonna have some chili."

Put silicone grease on all of your rubber door seals, which will stop them from freezing to the body and keep them soft. Use graphite lube on door locks, but only in small amounts it can make a mess, but will not collect dirt or freeze. Good luck, Mike GM Master Technician.

In the event anyone is curious, the bar above the locomotive seen at time stop 4:57 is for clearing icicles hanging inside the tunnels that separate the north Lake Tahoe area (Truckee, CA) from the Sacramento Valley to the west. Additionally, the bars/grid in front of the windshields are to prevent snow, branches or ice from damaging the glass. The Union Pacific railroad has a subset of their locomotive fleet specifically modified to traverse "Donner Pass" between Reno, NV and Roseville CA, with Truckee CA in between ... with these 2 modifications just a few of the several that allow them to surmount the pass and its winter hazards.
  • The trains in the background actually make for a really cool backdrop.

Dear Foresty I have been a fan of your channel for years now. But guess what my kids (ages 4 and 9) have become such big fans of your videos that every weekend they ask me to check YT if a new episode has dropped. Your videos make them so calm and peaceful and they particularly love seeing Rocko and your gourmet cooking. Our 4 year old keeps saying "ummmm that looks good, I'd eat that" lol. My whole family loves you man. Thank you for the peace and joy.

Nothing better than hunkering down in a blizzard in a cozy van with a friend and dogs. Winter is a perfect time to slow down.

“They turned to cannibalism, today on the menu, I’ll make chili!” I laughed 😂😂😂

An honor in some ways, to the Donner party folks, those pioneers who were on their way hoping to make a better life in California. For those who survived and those who didn’t. Brave folks who traveled NEVER KNOWING what lay ahead as opposed to our luxury in this day and age of knowing there is always someone close by to help us in an emergency and having fairly accurate weather forecasts. Kudos for you and Lou. ❤

Always warms my heart to see Loui. She is such a sweetheart.
  • When a Canadian says: "This is the most fearsome snowstorm I've ever seen in my life" I believe it!
  • @kevinbarrett8883
Mine and my buddy’s plan before he passed was to take his van out west and fish and camp. Every time I watch your videos it reminds me of the good times and what wanted to do. Love the videos always look forward to them. Kevin from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
