  • Your consults are worth every penny! Went from crying and stressed to excited and confident. Thank you. Can’t wait till we chat again and you help me display the story of my home - my place to rest and recharge that has visual appeal to me!

Using vintage is so much better for the planet and the bonus is that there is almost no chance you'll see it in someone else's home.
  • Arden is too adorable, so huggable. Collectibles are so fun and interesting as long as they are well curated. Sometimes it’s hard to see your own mistakes and things just look like clutter. Sigh…

I am Gen X, I was also a collector. I finally broke that habit, but it’s hard. I never collected for the money value of it, I collected things I like. But it can be a money drain and it takes up space. I now have it narrowed down to one curio cabinet and one corner shelf.

For non-designers, the 70-20-10 color rule can be very helpful. And, there's nothing wrong with purchasing some opening price point pieces that can later be used elsewhere as budget permits replacement. It is completely possible to create a wonderful space without falling victim to design/retail snobbery and budget overruns.
  • I feel old when you talk about collecting. I remember the pet rock, cabbage kids, beanie babies, Pokémon cards. But you also made me think about what I now collect and apparently it’s Buddha statuettes (have one in nearly every room). I’ve always collected music (cds and cassettes), but I recently bought a record player and now I go to thrift stores searching for albums. But my music collections are tastefully organized and in cabinets.
  • loved your "fast cheap or looks good" rule of thumb. in construction we used "time cost or results" and told customer "you get to pick two" works every time and everyone knows how to proceed.

❤That's why I LOVE this channel. Garrett shows us how we can incorporate some trend-like pieces into our homes but in a way that will never go out of style. No more design purgatory.❤
  • @nkley1
Do you have any idea how much stress and anxiety RELIEF you have given your viewers . The importance of finding a selection of quality pieces from different designs that complement each other and make your home unique and cohesive, not just a showroom-style, rushed dictated set, is so much more fun….and yes, organized, clean, decluttered, cozy, and stylish can all be done on a budget. Then you don’t have a dated look in as little as two to three years. I feel like trends are changing as quick as dictated updates on our phones, making people feel pressured to then spend, spend, spend. Love your adorable dog and your channel! ❤
  • Thrilled i caught your video early when i can like, comment, and hopefully contribute to helping push this video to a broader audience. Really sound, practical advice..as always. Gen x here, but this advice still applies. Thank you!
  • @sarahanshew8095
Just recently discovered you! Moving soon to a new construction and I’m slightly overwhelmed. You are speaking to my millennial heart and that I want to create a peaceful, timeless environment that I’ve never had in a home.
  • @mayanovak2497
14:24 your expressions & the way you talk is amazing 🤣 you're not only knowledgeable but also so funn
  • Yes, you nailed it! I love mixing styles because that's how it becomes My Home, but it has to be the "trend styles" that I love. Thanks, Garrett!
  • Valid advice about trends; it does not have to be all or nothing. Again, it is so refreshing, and a sign of a trained interior designer, that you emphasize the need to find your own design style. Arden is a natural star (just as you are) 😎
  • @boehmlauren01
Millenial here 👋 "collecting" is a thing. Its just also figuring how to make sure it doesnt turn into a large collection of collections. I have been doing much better over the last couple years of really listening to myself, but also taking advantage of trends if they align with the home i want to have.
  • Although I'm an older Gen X, I really enjoyed this video anyway. You always entertain and make me smile! 🥰🐕
  • @lucywood5545
I decorated my home in my own personal style and have never regretted it
  • Do a little at a time. It will be beautiful when it’s finished.
  • @katrinacool
First off hugs to adorable 🥰 Arden! I am not a millennial but Gen X (I think) but I never knew that millennials were such collectors. I display what I like but I do rotate between the months of the year and store away the rest- not too many either as storage space is limited. Creating a curated collection but know when enough is enough. Excellent work Garrett!! Love my Sunday afternoon with the LeChic family! 🌴🦩☀️☺️😍😊🥰❤️🥰❤️🥰❤️
