I try and beat Pikmin 3 with the least amount of fruit possible and trust me it's way less than you think.

Thanks to @TheBacklogs for being such a good sport and thanks to the Pikmin speed running community for finding all the awesome tricks used in this video.

You know, I might be imagining it, but I'm starting to suspect Press A doesn't think very highly of me.

I love this feud so much because it means we get twice the pikmin content

About the disapearing watermellon piece, the first piece of fruit you collect in a playthrough is always a cutscene (usualy intended for the sunseed berry in the garden of hope), but because the watermellon was the first piece, the drake tried doing that cutscene with that

The first fruit you collect will show the cutscene of it turning to juice in the moment you collect it. You must have skipped it

I love how you specifically credit the game over screen as Lemon's footage, because no way you would have gotten that screen yourself

I think the baby crying in the background is my favorite part of the video.

Knowing now that Louie won't steal your fruit if you have nothing to steal, I wonder how many days you can stall him for after rescuing him by only collecting enough fruit for exactly one canister each day.

LOL THE RIVALRY CONTINUES. We need to see press a do a dark souls challenge one of these days

What happened on day 4 with the watermelon is fairly simple. The first time you collect a fruit in the game, it automatically juices it and plays a cutscene, which you probably skipped. It still counted the watermelon piece, it just didn't update the fruit icon in the corner

Oh man, Lemons gonna be upset šŸ˜ Let's hope he starts doing more Pikmin challenges tho! I love the rivalry between you and Lemon! It's awesome ^^
  • 28:57 ā€œAnd, on my second try, I didnā€™t lose a single Pikmin.ā€ Shows footage of him losing a single Pikmin

You should enter Lemonā€™s domain and try a dark souls challenge run! That would be an interesting experience lol

the funniest detail of pikmin 3 is that if you check the file select and return to day 1 you will find out they actually started out with 7 canisters of food, a clever reference to the fact the least ammount of days is 7

Lemon: does any sort of Pikmin challenge Press A: ā€œHold my beerā€

14:18 I believe I know. In a typical playthrough, the first fruit you get is juiced on the spot, whether it be a strawberry or a lemon, the very first fruit you ever get is immediately juiced. As a result, it doesn't show up at the end of day count. My theory is the first watermelon piece got juiced the moment it was collected, and you likely skipped the acquisition cutscene (or it just didn't play for some reason) thus explaining why you only had 4 pieces at the end count, and half a bottle was already full: The first piece was actually juiced, you just didn't see it. Hope you see this, PA!
  • @montydoesgames
I believe the actual reason for the first piece not counting is because collecting your first fruit triggers a cutscene where it automatically turns it into juice. Since you didnt collect fruit beforehand you triggered this cutscene with a watermelon piece
  • The happy baby noises made this guy somehow even more endearing than he already was, idk a more wholesome and entertaining gaming channel rn
  • @sonnitude
The drake always juices the first fruit you find in a cutscene you can skip. The game just expects it to be the strawberry that you pass by on day 2.
