We drove the Vinfast VF8 to see if all of the negative reviews were justified.

Special thanks to Natalie Ly for lending us her Vinfast. Check out her experiences with the Vinfast on her YouTube channel here: @nataliely73

ABSOLUTELY DO A FOLLOW UP. If they claim it's fixed... Then let's see it. And I'd recommend the same exact car, but with their patch installed. Not some handpicked model VinFast wants you to try.

Imagine trying to avoid a collision but the car refuses to steer because you didn't turn on the blinkers
  • @Xaqaria
If you eventually do a "Did Vinfast fix their issues" video, I vote for including a getaway skit.
  • The fact that it blocks you from changing lanes without the blinker is so dangerous. I've had plenty of situations where I needed to avoid some obstacle on very short notice (pot holes, animals, debris, even other cars etc.) the car might not see, and had to go over the line slightly. This car would just push me back into them

I hate when companies make consumers their beta testers! In this case it can be downright dangerous!
  • @OldToothbrush0210
If this car had used a diesel engine, it would've been called VinDiesel
  • I would like to note something about the startup sequence: it's dangerous. One of the things I like about a traditional turn-key-to-start is that if it's late at night or I'm actually in a dangerous situation, turning on the car and flooring it only take a couple seconds. Idgaf about a seatbelt if I've got some person with a knife after me.

The car industry is legit like the video game industry; dlcs, micro transactions, every company thinks they can charge premium prices, and now unfinished products
  • @mattmattmatt131313
It's like this car managed to put all of the features I hate about modern cars in one vehicle.
  • @2k22
You know what is the worst part? Wanting to avoid an accident and LAS taking control of the steering wheel because you didn't use the turn signal... That's a nightmare...
  • @WorldMundo
Imagine literally having to "UPDATE" your car before going on a trip 💀
  • @StardustADV
I would love to see if they can fix their problems. New companies have growing pains, as long as they work hard to learn from those and grow, they will do well. Would love to see if their updates actually fixed anything.

Vinfast: You must signal before the steering wheel will let you change lanes The deer running out into the highway: Now no one can stop me
  • @billselby149
"Just make a car that's electric. Don't make it all weird!" 100%, wish that was a thing from any company.
  • @hungta5679
Keep in mind: Vinfast is a Vietnamese company manufacturing cars. Vietnam is a country composed of a population that primarily drives scooters and motorbikes.
  • @davesmith9451
Is this an example of a new "let the customers beta test it" attitude in a lot of manufacturing now? Not all manufacturer's do this but some doo, and it is rampant in the software world for sure. I think you did a fair take on this car. I am also glad that most auto manufacturer's do not put cars this far from satisfactory on the market.
  • @evertonbrc
"This car sucks... nothing works properly" "Yeah... we know. We will patch it with an update" Didn't knew EA was doing cars now.

Guys, the chimes can be adjusted to off if you actually go through the settings. So it is only annoying because you never turned it off in the first place.
  • @gruntes11isttt
That delay in acceleration can become a big deal to try avoid an accident combined with the can't change lanes without a blinker can be a really big safety issue
