  • Hearing you say that it’s similar to Star Wars Rebellion really caught my attention. Being able to play it solo is a huge plus, for me. I’m glad the solo mode turned out well and from what you mentioned, it seems to have been done well. I guess I’ll be adding it to my collection. Thanks for bringing it to my attention!

Thank you for this video! The day after I played this for the first time, I brought my copy of War of the Ring to sell at a game swap. It's precisely the type of thematic dudes on a map game that I wanted out of War of the Ring but in the time frame that I can play without having to schedule it weeks in advance. I know it wasn't an exhaustive review but I hope you didn't miss the rule where settlements add their level in dice, so even the Atreides player loses troops, level 3 sietches are very hard to take over.

I play this with my son and our only experience with Dune is the recent films. He is 13 and always plays the Fremen/Atriedes side and I have to say that neither of us find the Prescience cards random. I feel that anyone that would have watched the recent films then they make sense and we actually find them very thematic 👍 I do find this is a game where we are learning together, so you kinda need that consistent ‘playing partner’ to grow together with this game, Great review 👍 looking forward to what you think of the expansions
  • Backed this on the original KS and so glad I did. We've only played a few times and not yet added the expansions. But with the three playthroughs it has scratched the itch without the time commitments of Rebellion & WOTR. Im looking forward to your thoughts with the expansions. We plan to add them with this weekends play.

I recommend you A gest of Robin Hood . I know you like Cuba Libre. Great video , thank you.

"Cone of Silence". That's some Get Smart vibes. I don't remember Cones of Silence in the books. Maybe the "null field"? Guess that's not as cool sounding. Great review, Joel. Always like your perspectives on games. We've disagreed on many points in the past but you're always a fresh voice in a sea of... well, in a sea.

I have a hard time with people commenting on balance of a game when they haven’t played it very much. I’ve played it a few times, and I see what you are saying, but I also can see both factors balancing out each other. I’m not ready to give a verdict yet. But I’m very confident and experienced player will have a higher probability of winning regardless of which side they play. This will also be played a lot more than War of the Ring, because it’s way more approachable in setup and playtime.

Yeah, Dune is one of my favorite science fiction novels of all time, so I am very excited to try this one. I was just talking about this game earlier tonight with a friend that I am planning on playing it with. Can't wait! :-D

I keep hearing the 4-player option for this game is substantially better than for Rebellion or War of the Ring. People are actually saying they'd buy it just for the the 4-player implementation. Did you get to play it much at 4?
  • @TheKid_88
Damn tnx for this review….. I’m definitely not going to buy this 😂
  • @EgeTunca
interesting that you think the leader abilities are unique and thematic. I heard from other reviews that they were doing the same thing but in different way which made it very boring :D Dune is my favorite book. I haven't played war of the ring yet but I did play star wars rebellion which didn't click a lot with me. Still not sure about this one. I wish it wasn't a huge investment :(

Sorry you didn't love it. I adore it! Replaces War of the Ring for me outright.
