Noticed this still gets views/comments so here's a quick update. It's put in and out of a backpack at least 2 times a day and I've probably played over 800 hours of games on it with no issues. Laptop is generally on 9 hours a day 5 days a week doing work with about 5 hours of gaming a week(i own a gaming desktop too). If you have any questions post em here.

It's minor for you. Not for about 30-40% of us. It differs. Mine was loud as a hissing snake when completely idle.
  • Got mine last week, the coil whine doesn't bother me at all, largely because the fans usually kick in and override the coil whine.

I have a lenovo ideapad gaming 3 (gen 7) and it has this noise (kinda sounds like an old HDD ticking) it's very quiet but I didn't know if it was the fan or what, it's most audible when at idle you can't hear it when the fans ramp up

thanks for sharing my acer slim laptop has same sound and i am using this in full load no issue found...
  • @lckyryn
Bro i like how u explain it, planning to grab this exact unit too. What do u think about the monitor tho? Any major backlight bleed u notice like when playing dark scenes? And do u like the speakers? Thanks in advance bro

I have the Same Problem with my asus g15 i buy and after 5 days start buzzing the Same Problem with Coil whine, what can i make ?
  • I find it funny how everybody that is complaining about the coil whine of this laptop end up saying that they returned it and bought a MSI, when all those MSI models that they mention cost between 1000-2000$ more than this laptop..... Since I don't wanna spend 4 or 5 thousand $ on a laptop, I'd probably buy this one. Thank you 4 the video.
  • Could You Please Upload a video sharing temperatures while Benchmarking and Gaming..... Like Timespy Cinebench?🙄
  • @VanosTurbo
How is the coil whine under normal desktop use like browsing, watching youtube, scrolling etc? And does it have function key (fn) lock?
  • @noutbuker
Tell me please, do you also have a coil beeping in idle time? Some videos on YouTube confirm that in normal idle it squeaks a lot. And in silence it's very annoying
  • @AlexDanweal
Its fine just Lock the fps on 60 - 90 or lower some settings and laptop when it become cold the noise will gone
  • I bought the G17 ryzen 4070. I updated the amd catalyst drivers to the latest 23.4.3 and it ended up freezing everytime i would restart the notebook. After 2 days of restarting multiple times before getting a good boot up , i returned it. I'm debating about getting the G18 intel version. Have you updated the drivers? Are you experiencing any freezing after logging into windows? Thanks in advance.

@sp1ker101 There were some Bios updates from ASUS lately, did you install them? some people say it removed col whine totally. Would be great to confirm.

Just picked one up on Black Friday. Got no coil whine or screen bleeding. Hit the lottery.

You're layering bandaids. Yes it's harder to hear when you wear headphones, use performance mode for the fans or turn the volume up.. though sometimes people just want to utilise quiet mode after a long day and enjoy using external speakers. That is when the whine becomes unforgivably annoying. The CPU has whine too when moving the cursor, you can hear it when browsing the net at night or anything else WITHOUT a load.

Just cause ur playing genshin Wanted to ask you Even on 60 fps does the game feel jittery for you? Like minor stutters while running sometimes…?
  • @sp1ker101
i.imgur.com/M7tgPUm.jpg People keep asking about lightbleed. It's very minor and very hard to get a picture of with my phone. This is the best i could show but its not noticeable 99% of the time.
  • @timviei
Do you think the laptop is to big? How is the screen? I'm not sure if I get this one or the Zephyrus M16 with the Mini Led screen for $2699,00.

Coil whine matters a lot for content creators. Wanna do a voiceover? Forget about it if you are on this laptop.
