Bryson, I have been a golf fanatic all my life and I have seen more Majors than I can count, including all of Tiger"s wins. I must say that your win at Pinehurst was the most amazing scrambling round of golf that I have ever seen. It would be a super win if you were always on the short grass just ripping it down the middle on every hole, but you had to manufacture so many amazing shots from everywhere that this win stands out to me as just INCREDIBLE. i recorded the telecast and have watched this video a couple of times already but it won't ever get old. Keep up the GREAT entertainment!

For BD you have shown us how dedication and passion for golf can be so enjoyable. You explore new possibilities in a sport deeply rooted in tradition and conservatism to the extreme. You are truly amazing. For Rory wish Rory the strength to keep fighting. I hope he wins another major championship."

You have to swing pretty hard at a 55yd bunker shot and if you hit it thin, its in the clubhouse. Heavy and its a 30 ft. par putt. and its 72nd hole of a U.S. Open . Big Ballz shot.

The most presure ever for both players. Rory to win after 10 years and Bryaon to win after a letdown at the PGA major. The putt Rory had was very hard. Left to right down hill. Ask Gary McCord about his 4 putt at the Senior US Open on the 3rd hole of the old course. That was just nerves for Gary. Rory felt he made it for sure. Putting gets harder when there's breaks and a downhill slider. The place to chip to was to have a up hill putt no matter what. Then it's more makable. Bryson Bunker's shot was the best in the history of golf. The root and tree branch was his dad testing his practiced skills over the years. His dad was there the whole time. Well done, Bryson! Class act with the fans. That makes such a big difference in golf. The USGA is proud of your representation, too, golfs history. You just made the USGA notch higher in standings in the golf world. Congratulations, Sir. Bryson. Applauds to you and your family and the USGA for a great golf event.

No wonder Rory didn't want to face the press. What was he gonna say? I choked!!!! Silence is golden!

Bryson won this. Rory didn't lose it. 1/1000000 golfers hit that bunker shot let alone the 2nd off the root.

Pavon ... Typical French guy: "My putt for 4th place is more important than Bryson's putt to win. I'll go last."
  • @Cheetos0555
I've never had so much fun watching a golfer play out of so many tough areas in order to win since tiger.

Pavon not finishing out his putt and letting Bryson go first was the move of a real tool. Again, IMHO.
  • McIlroy is a great player but he is incomplete. His personality is like a stick in the mud. He fail this time around. The fans were looking for him to interview and see him acknowledge Bryson as the champion. Which would have been the appropriate thing to do but he skipped out on everyone and disrespected Bryson. Way to go Rory.

21:11 Just a horrible putt. He actually topped the ball. 20:55. It did break a lot tho. It looked like a good line. Topping the ball makes the ball break more because it immediately starts rolling. Hitting it in the middle tends to make it skid a little...very little but skidding nevertheless...almost like a cue ball in pool.

The crowd was booing Cone because he didn’t put out
  • @lsulaw91
Rory definitely left himself with a very tough putt. I’ve had that very same putt and it’s outside the hole from 3 ft. Feel bad for Rory but super happy for Bryson!!
  • @jdheelfan
Big Tone's Triple Bogey on Saturday cost him the trophy
  • @evanwrenn402
Smiley said, "Not outside, it's a left center putt, but you can start it in the middle and make it too." Uhhhh no lol

There's two interesting "what-ifs" to me here. Rory could see Bryson plonk it on the #17 green; not an easy putt but relatively flat and definitely makeable. Does Rory still pull driver if he hits first? You would wonder if he felt like he had to try to give himself a birdie chance on 18. Secondly if Bryson hits his drive on #18 into the fairway, I wonder if Rory makes his putt - a slider like that is in some respects easier if you feel like you have to make it and just power it in. But with Bryson under a tree and having better odds at making 5 than 4, then all of a sudden you have to play defensively because you don't want to give things away by 3 putting. Things like this are part of what makes golf great. So much of it is played between the ears.
