US Vetoes Palestine's Dreams of UN Membership | Vantage with Palki Sharma

The United Nations Security Council held a vote on Thursday to determine whether Palestine could be given the opportunity to become a permanent member of the United Nations. 12 security council members voted to allow Palestine to join. Two member, Britain and Switzerland abstained. The US was the sole security council member to vote against the resolution to allow membership for Palestine. Because the US has veto powers, Palestine will not be allowed to join the United Nations as a permanent member. Israel thanked the US for its veto, and criticised the other members for voting in favour of Palestinian membership. Would UN membership have changed anything for the Palestinians?

They should abolish the veto power, as it's no longer relevant. All countries that holding veto power, especially the United States, have abused it numerous times.
