Music is the universal language. Great improv! I had a smile on my face the entire time 😊

Just Amazing! As many have said, music and art brings people closer. Congratulations
  • Literally an example of what the Silk Road was! Music is human nature and connects us as humans! Love these people

Interesting to hear the three instruments and your explanations for each. A good thirty five years ago during a hike over the Easter break at a very remote place in my state in south east Australia, the group I was with was approached by a youngish couple who asked if they could share the warmth of our fire, answer was, of course. The male, forgotten his surname, but Andrew suggested he could play his Huon pine shakuhachi as a way of thanking us. We were mesmerised by the haunting sounds, and if that wasn't enough, he then started Mongolian throat singing into to the mix. We were in an ancient forest region which just added more layers to the experience.

I saw the Silkroad Ensemble performing "American Railroad" in Fairfax, VA last Sunday, November 5th. Amazing, just amazing! Kojiro Umezaki was not there, but Kaoru Watanabe played Japanese flutes and drums (do I have to say that he killed it in both departments?). Wu Man is such a virtuoso! Her pipa sounds totally oriental one moment, and then she makes it sound like she is playing in the rock band. So cool! Rhiannon Giddens.... She's my idol. Just like that.....

Such a beautiful expression of humanity outside of time.

Great to see Wu Man again, I had the pleasure of mixing for her at a music series the day after she played front of stage with Yo-yo Ma and the NY Phil, what a pleasure!
