I've been avoiding buying anything from the TikTok shop purely because it was too new and too suspicious. It appealed to me because I'm broke, but I had a bad feeling about it.

I seriously hope the tiktok shop doesn't become bigger than it is. I tried to buy a Christmas present for my mom from there and it was such a nightmare. I never got the item I ordered and getting a refund was so difficult for no reason.

Honestly as a company we tried TikTok shops and it’s so difficult to get going, it’s super janky. The support team sucks. Our legitimate shop among drop shippers confuses customers. The violations are insane, especially when you follow the rules. It’s frustrating.

This video is a living reminder that when Style Theory was coming out, and we got the hint that is started with an 'S' I was dead set on it being "Social Theory"

TikTok is doing the same thing that Shein, Temu, and Alibaba have been doing for years. Are we even surprised?

My workplace has outright banned TikTok. Not just “you can’t use it while working” kinda banned, but straight up “if we find out you have a TikTok account you will be immediately fired” kinda banned.

The "great shutdown" also happened on ROBLOX where they got sued by record labels and had to erase their entire audio catalog of millions of user-generated audio assets because of the sheer amount of copyright infringement. Pretty sure the same is going to happen to the user-generated avatar accessories soon because there is an absurd amount of copyright infringement happening there now. Honestly ROBLOX might get entirely shut down because of the sheer amount of copyright infringement they are blatantly ignoring, it's actually ridiculous. Also I loved the subtle reverb on the "E" in "e-commerce"

The second I saw tiktok open a shop, I knew it was only downhill from here. I scroll past any product/sponsors so fast the algorithm doesn't show me very many.

To me the main evil in TikTok that I ran into were links to outside stores that weren’t in TikTok shop. I’m not surprised to learn that there was more hidden issues as well. I don’t hate TikTok, though I do hate some of the decisions that were made, and things that can happen on there. TikTok is a Caffeinated version of YouTube and Amazon combo now. I would say don’t trust links in TikTok, go to the shop if you actually buy something.

Amazon taught me how to be a cautious creator via their influencer program. When I first started with TikTok Shop as a creator, I was mindblown by all of the copyright and FTC viloations.

You see, this is why shopping in person almost always is the way to go

All I know is, the only purchase I made through TikTok got lost in transit - and because of their rough CA department I wasn’t able to get either a refund or an exchange for my items. So as far as I’m concerned, it’s dead to me.
