The saddest Wildwood video ever made. The choice of music casts our memories in a cloak of tears for what once was.
  • I wish we could return to these days with the rides. We don't need the 'Thrill' rides of today, the thrill was just being in Wildwood on the Boardwalk. I would love to see a pier dedicated to the old days with the rides. Call it Nostalgic Pier.
  • Not sure how old this video is but I'm 63 1959 and I remember some of these rides from when I was younger and they bring back so many memories of my Brother & sister and me of the time we would have every summer we be there for a week at a time . Great video thank you so much for sharing 😁👍✌
  • If anyone is curious, the music that plays in the beginning of the video is “La Petite Fille De La Met” by Vangelis. The version used here is at a faster pitch.

At first I thought, the ride @06:15, was The 'Scrambler', but that was on another pier, and I believe, it was painted silver. After straining, a couple of brain🧠 cells, I had a total recall, that this version on Hunt's pier, was called 'The El Sombrero'. To the young; Yes, our piers used to stick out, over the water (even at, low tide). And the choice of the song, was a spot on👌!!! Great to reminisce about the past, but unhealthy, to live in it ………………Hi Ralph😉………

The footage was some of the best compiled so far (thank you Mr. Doyle) and the music was so melancholy, so haunting and yet so perfect. The footage brought back some great memories and sadly, just like the "souvenirs", those too will fade away. Thank you!

A glimpse of my past! Thank you! Almost like a time long forgotten... do you remember a game they had on the pier in wildwood in the 70's where they had a chicken inside a game ( live chicken) playing tic tac toe against the chicken, if you won you got four packs of cigarettes and if he won, he got feed !! OMG all I did for hours is feed that stupid chicken 😂😂😂

Thanks for posting this excellent video. Hunt's Pier was my absolute favorite part of Wildwood. I loved the Skua, Gold Nugget, and the Whacky Shack. As a boy, I was fascinated by that rocking skeleton in the little box on the roof of the WS. It was so cool to see it again!

Spent a lot of time here 70s thru 90s. Live in FLL but visit often. Can't wait to visit again...

It is a bit melancholic that so many of the attractions of yesterday are now memories. Some can only be viewed in the historical society. Sometimes change is not always for the better. I still miss the old Wildwood, with the different piers. Especially Twin Spin.

Thanks Ralph, this is great stuff!  Good quality too.  Has to be pre-1967... I don't see Kong, the Wipeout slide or anyone with long hair or sideburns.  I'm glad I got to experience most of those rides.
  • Thank you so much for sharing this I've been looking for just a picture of the train that went under the pier and boardwalk and to actually have video is amazing plus the Jack Rabbit as well just a great trip down memory lane. Awesome video.
  • This is beautiful so many wonderful Wildwood memories. Hunts pier was such a wonderful place and holds a special place in our hearts. Thank you so much for putting this together.

Thank you for this lovely look back on some of what I remember. That flume and Billy Joel had me in tears.
