And your arm felt nice wrapped around my shoulder
And I-I, had a feeling that I belonged

This is a beautiful rendition. All credit to Tracy Chapman for graciously allowing Luke to cover Fast Car and bring it to a new generation. I hope people will check out Tracy's version, too.

I was beyond tears hearing his talented rendition. I was a 37 years old cancer patient, mother of a 2 year old, when Tracy Chapman’s classic came out. It soothe my soul. I am 72 years old now and was mesmerized by seeing her and Luke perform at the Grammy 1/4/2024. It continues to soothe my soul.

Written by a black, gay, liberal woman and performed with passion by a straight white man who used to have a confederate flag sticker on his guitar to a country music audience who understand that what this song talks about is a shared American experience of hope for a better future and overcoming hardship regardless of background and politics and race. It's music like this that will help bring us together as a nation and, man, do we need it. Thank you, Tracy and Luke. (And Luke, please consider having Tracy as a surprise guest at one of your concerts so you can sing this with her. That would be awesome.
  • “Somebody’s gotta take care of him so I quit school that’s what I did” breaks my heart and makes me cry so hard

The songs hits home..My wife and I were homeless living in the Walmart parking lot. Finally found a job at McDonald’s..my only meal each day was my employee meal….a hamburger, a small fry, and small pop. Couldn’t even afford bread or peanut butter. We are still scraping but things are better now..but I just wanted to tell anyone going thru that…its ok..it may not seem like it but it is.

35 years later and fast car is still going strong... one of the best songs ever written.
  • A melhor interpretação que pude ouvir até hoje! Ficou muito bom!!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Tracy's version makes me cry. Always did. So does this one. Just a beautiful song, thank you Tracy for bringing it to the world, and Luke for honoring it, and her.
  • Everyone who reads this, we don't know each other and probably never will but I wish you all the best in life and all the luck in the world. 🥰

Funny how a song can make you feel the past, present, and future all at once.

I believe that somewhere in the world, there are people who feel the same emotions that I feel when I listen to masterpieces like this song.

Just saw his duet with Tracy Chapman on the Grammy awards and I'll have to say, it made me cry.....so sweet and soulful.

✨ I’m one of those old Gen-Xers who remembers the original playing on the radio. In this crazy world, this cover is especially meaningful. Apparently, I needed a good cry.
  • @kh22912
Hands down one of the BEST covers of all time. Seriously, the original was great on its own... but this was next level

Tracy Chapman and Luke Combs performing Fast Car at the Grammys was special. A performance that will be remembered for years to come.

1989 was 10 years after my parents split up and abandoned us. I raised my younger brother. I got us both through college working 3 jobs. Tracy Chapman knew what was in my soul. These lyrics tell my story. I’ll always love Tracy for her gift. Beautiful cover by Luke. ❤❤❤
