I have no basis for what I'm about to say so just take it with a grain of salt but I have a feeling that Sting ball might be like a combination of American football and lacrosse. If you look at the way Scorp throws the poisonous crystals he uses for his attacks, his claws hold them similar to how a lacrosse stick catches and holds a lacrosse ball. I'd assume players toss the ball to each other using their hands which is where the comparison to American football comes from. I have no reference for any of this, I'm just spit balling some theories here.

I just remembered, that I have another desert related Skylander Oceaphant somewhere in the vast golden desert, long before the Golden Queen ruled over it there was a small oasis kingdom, where the central lake was the most important part of the kingdom, as it provided life and it was protected by the royal Ocean Elephant family but things changed when 1 night, the lake was dried out, and the royal prince went out to search for the legendary water on his journey, he met with several Skylanders who helped him on his journey however, the water was truelly gone, not even a drip was ever found, so they returned to his kingdom only to find the worst thing, not only is his family dead, but the Golden Queen took over the kingdom, as she reveals that she was the one who took the water and even though he wanted revenge, he knew he wasn't ready, so he joined the Skylanders, in order to get his revenge one day

3:20 Potential theory. What if we're thinking about it backwards? Instead of things coming from Earth to Skylands, what if Skylands is where our Earth things originated? Skylands is over 10,000 years old, and when the Giants came to Earth, civilization was just beginning I'm pretty sure. Plus, Skylands is canonically at the center of the universe. And with portals on our planet seemingly without being sent to us through a magical catastrophe (Mt. Cloudbreak, broken core, broken Cloudcracker etc.) and we know that Portal Masters left Skylands during the reign of King Nefarion and his Mask of Power, there is a possibility.

for the flooding thing, i don't have a concreete awnser but in some levels, there is water points, and nothing under it, just like the island, it floats
