Hearing the Elmo become higher pitched and warbly as the voltage went up was quite entertaining. Very different from the usual static out that usually happens to the sound chips/speakers.

Wow the elmo changed speed. I bet it had a microcontroller that relied on a RC(resistor capacitor) oscilator to clock the cpu thus making the cpu execute the bits even faster until it crashed at higher voltage and then it burned down. The designers put some effort in the circuitry, instead of popping the chip inmideatly it sped up

Honestly the elmo shows that the older stuff can really handle be put through alot of voltage strain, i think an big mouth billy bass or Jazzman would be cool to see if find any. ❤

That last one is controlled by a capacitor instead of a resistor thats why the pitch bends higher every time
