Bangkok is one of the greatest cities in the world in terms of business, entertainment, food, shopping and so much more. Things have definitely changed in 2023 with the relaxing regulations and tourism being back in full swing, thus I wanted to take you guys to some of my favorite places in the city and show you how much I spend on an average day of being there. Join me and my friends Tah and Hiroki as we explore Bangkok by night at an amazing sky bar, great eats in Chinatown and make sure you subscribe to Tah's channel down below:

The travel health insurance I use - PassportCard Nomads: www.passportcardnomads.com/?ref=alinamcleod

*I highly recommend this travel health insurance because you don't have to pay out of pocket for your medical expenses and they have very reasonably priced long term plans. You can buy the packages for shorter trips as well, but they're especially fantastic for digital nomads and nomads who want regular health insurance when they are abroad. I am an affiliate of this company, but of course use the plans myself.

Still very cheap for good accommodation in Bangkok. US$30 a night for a big spacious room like that in Sukhumvit is really good. Great aerial shot of the park. That is certainly something to go back and check out.
  • Cool video, Alina. Also really like Bangkok, and as someone who lives in Manila, I agree that Bangkok is safe for a big city in a developing country. Enjoy the rest of your trip in Asia, hoping we can all go back and visit Ukraine again soon.

1:20 Wow it's very similar to Telok Blangah Hill Park in Singapore where I used to run often. A few days ago, I went to Bangkok's Chinatown in the evening, and I was shocked that it was full of so many people and very cheap food. Alina had a wonderful experience. It's good to feel the same experience and similar emotions.😄

Yes Alina BKK is quite safe at late night for a female solo traveler. When the restaurant charges SERVICE CHARGE 10% you don’t need to leave the tip.
  • Thailand's China Town was created more than 150 years ago when Thai King gave land to Chinese migrants to settle in the outskirt of the old city Grand Palace. The first road was constructed in the reign of King Rama IV named Charoen Krung Rd and later Yaowarat Rd was constructed to link up with Charoen Krung as well. Since it was/is the commercial hub, Yaowarat Rd was/is one-way traffic even 60 years ago. China Town was the center of rice trade in those days as there is nearby Chao Phraya pier bringing rice from provinces into Bangkok. It is no longer the center of rice trade as road/rail transport is highly developed over the years. For at least 60 years, China Town is the center of gold trading. There are about a dozen gold shops on Yaowarat Rd selling bullions and gold ornaments. Daily gold price is prescribed by Gold Trade Association in China Town. For the last decade, Thailand China Town, the largest China Town in the world, is the place to go at night for delicious food/drink. It is arguably the largest open night market in the world. It is estimated that about 10% Thai people are Chinese descents.
