What Players and Legends Have to Say About Larry Bird Will SHOCK You...

Before Bird and Magic, the NBA was like that underappreciated band playing in the corner of a dive bar. But the Larry-Magic duo cranked up the volume, turned up the lights, and suddenly, the NBA wasn't on the sidelines, it was the headline act. Bird's role in this revitalization should be etched in basketball history.

"If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save a game I'd choose Michael Jordan. If I had to choose a player to take a shot to save my life...I'd take Larry Bird." - Pat Riley
  • Bird played the game as well as it can be played. He was beautiful to watch , he made you feel the spirit of the game.
  • Larry Bird seem like he play a step ahead. Always had the angles and dissect the court to his advantage. Now that is a great player..

They love to say he wasn't athletic - was Magic athletic? Show me the 6'9" guy that was all over the court all day doing everything. "They love to say he talked trash. If you back it up IT AINT TRASH! It's called calling it - and often in your face! They just hate to admit how great Larry was - which is pathetic bc he made the game so great for so many afterwards who can't hold a candle to him. .

Why did you show his rich-man-in-the-NBA house when you talked about his humble beginning? Hilarious. You also didn't show the fall that hurt his back as you were talking about it, but other than those two editing slips, this video is flat out excellent. Thanks for sharing it. Larry is still the GOAT!

In college and early in the pro's, Larry had a respectable 30 in. vertical.
  • Bird's skills were like a master mechanic with a complete spectrum of tools. He would pull out and use the exact tool (skill set) needed to win. As the complete saying goes, "A jack of all trades is better than a master of one."

Went to college in Tulsa. Indiana State was in our conference. Tulsa was horrible back then in ‘78 but we would go to see Bird.
