As someone who struggles with their carb intake and is studying biochemistry, this video was not only super enjoyable to watch, but so informative! Awesome video 🥰
  • I worked at Olive Garden for 6 months and that beginning bit was a perfect representation of my worst nightmare 😂

As some one who worked at the olive garden, I can say rest assured your pasta is reheated every time you order it. The cooks go in early in the morning boil there pasta for the day. Weigh it bag it and when it's ordered it's reheated. Enjoy!
  • It was such a relief to learn that we don't need to eat cold pasta to be healthy. Cold pasta always tastes exactly like sadness.

My dad used to always make cold spaghetti. Olive oil, dill, feta cheese, kalamatas, squeeze of lemon, Chopped parsley. Probably my favorite way of making it.
  • I used to work at Olive Garden. All of the pasta you're eating there is cooked, chilled and reheated before service (except in rare cases when they run out of ready pasta and have to make more on the fly). This protocol is pretty commonplace in restaurants, actually.

Pasta is supposed to be shocked in ice water anyways to prevent the pasta from continuing to cook after being removed from the stove. As such, it’s the sauce that you add to the pasta that should be served hot with cold noodles. Hopefully, this will slot well into the idea that reheating pasta will increase the resistive starches.

Considering my family always cooked enough pasta for at least a few days it's good to know my love of leftovers was always the correct approach to eating my favorite foods, thank you mom and dad for teaching me to not waste food.
  • Me : oh new food theory on pasta “as I sit down to eat my lunch for reheated spaghetti” Me afterwards: I’m eating healthy today
  • My dad told me about reheating things like potatoes makes the carbs healthier just like what you said about pasta
  • @unlimitedfunlol
That’s actually awesome, because with my ADHD, and being a life long pasta fiend, most of the last ten years I’ve been making extra pasta to have leftover the next few days, either chilled or reheated. Woo hoo :)

The implication that mat pat can single handedly tank Olive Garden stocks is such a mood

My daughter is a type 1 diabetic. We always reheat her pasta because it helps to stop the spikes that just heated pasta does. It's nice to know this is the reason why it works :)

Your intro reminded me of the first time the Unlimited bowl was offered at the Olive Garden nearest our home. I chose that as my birthday destination and ate hearty... But not as hearty as my uncle. Who got us kicked out because he ate beyond their unlisted limit. And he and the manager argued and got us tossed out. He had his dad (a lawyer) OFFICALLY mail the corporate office from his office, got an executive payment card (AKA anything he and 1 guest orders is on the house for life) as well as the bill (for over a dozen people) refunded and a handwritten apology from the manager (who was immediately fired) and the owner of that location. All that to avoid a lawsuit. One of the reasons I love Olive Garden, we kicked their butts for their own problems

I actually learned about this a while back. My dad has a spaghetti recipe that was handed down from his mom, and she used to always say it was better reheated. One day I looked into it and discovered that, while the taste part is likely subjective, it was actually better for you when reheated. That's what i call grandma's intuition
  • @scottgluck2953
Okay, so former OG employee here. Olive Garden actually already reheats the pasta in store as well. Part of the prep is to cook and then chill the pasta so it can be quickly reheated and served. So uh... you're already getting some of the benefits of this eating at OG. XD
